Still swollen or bruised? Or bad filler job? 2 weeks post Juvederm in top lip. (photos)

Question

Hi There, I had less than one cc of Juvederm pluss 2 weeks ago for correction & the centre part of my top lip is still bubble like and swollen looking? Although I feel like all the swelling has gone now. Could this still be swelling or internal bruising?, or was the filler placed incorrectly and over done in this one area?. I did re visit the injector about 4 days ago and they said that it is swelling, not to worry and that there is nothing else they can do to help. Is this correct? :(

This might be superficially placed filler. Swelling resolves after 1-2 weeks. If you're unhappy, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase. I hope this helps.

I'm sorry to hear of your issues with your filler treatment.  Swelling generally is gone by two weeks after injection.  You can choose to have the filler dissolved if you are unhappy.  If your injector won't help you I suggest visiting a board certified plastic surgeon in your area for an evaluation and appropriate treatment.

After a lip injection with Juvederm, you can expect the area to be swollen for up to 2 weeks.  In some rare cases, minor swelling can persist a bit longer.Looking at your photos, you most likely have an area where too much filler was placed.  Some gentle massage can help smooth it over time.  If you are still unhappy with the result, a straightforward injection of hyaluronidase can dissolve the filler.If your injector does not offer hyaluronidase injections, I recommend you see a facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon with extensive experience in injections to correct your lip.  After correction, you can safely reinject your lips with Juvederm in the future.Best of luck!

Although you can try to "mold" the area using your fingers and sustained pressure I doubt it will bring you the effect you are after. Lips have multiple compartments and filler must be placed very precisely in particular plane in order to achieve lip eversion and natural look. Most of the time, however, the filler is place in very unfortunate place giving you appearance of a swollen lip, unnatural volume expansion. If you look at the hundreds of photos on this site you will be able to tell how common the problem is. Good luck!

You can definitely give it one more week and try finger rolling your lip a few times a day. If this does not help, I would speak to your injector and think about getting a little bit of hyaluronidase injected into the blister like formation that you have.
