Hello!Swelling and bruising is normal after lip fillers and can continue for up to 2 weeks. After reviewing your photos, it looks like the bruising and swelling you are experiencing is not normal. 2 days after your initial injections it is normal to have some bruising and swelling but what you are experiencing is a significant amount and should be evaluated to determine a treatment plan.
Thank you for your question and photos. Yes, most patients experience swelling after having their lips injected, and many have bruising as well. The severity of the swelling and bruising varies from patient to patient. This may take a week, or a bit longer to heal.
Yes, this can be typical after lip injections. It takes 1-2 weeks for final results and swelling/bruising to resolve after lip injections. I recommend discussing your desired results to determine how more filler will be needed. I hope this helps!
Bruising can be typical after lip injections and should resolve in 1-2 weeks. Icing, arnica and VBeam treatments can give improvement. Best, Dr. Emer
Thank you for sharing your question and photograph and I am sorry to hear of your lip bruising after dermal filler placement. Though bruising can occur with any injection yours is a bit more than typically seen in the lips but should steadily improve over the next 10-14 days. I would recommend trying to reduce the swelling by using cold compresses to your lips and elevating your head at night with a couple of extra pillows behind your back. You may want to also consider using Arnica Montana and bromelain as supplements to help resorb the bruise as well as eating dark leafy green vegetables. Hope this helps!
Bruising and swelling is common after lip injections and can persist up to two weeks. However the photo you provided shows bruising that is beyond what is normally expected. I recommend visiting with your injector for an evaluation. Sometimes patients find the use of the supplements Arnica and Bromelain to be helpful.
Thank you for your question and for sharing your photograph. Some swelling and bruising is common after treatment with fillers, especially when the lips are injected. Based on your photo, you appear to have significant bruising. Please be sure to see your injector for an in-person evaluation in order to determine the best treatment plan. Hope this helps and best wishes!
Yes, bruising and swelling can be expected. You could benefit from arnica gel and/or tablets, and still use cool compresses.
The bruising on the picture is quite substantial although it seems to be within the scope of reported complications. The overall incidence of bruising after filler injection is unusually high. If you look at the data contained in the Juvederm Ultra insert the overall incidence of bruising is 75%!!! This is unacceptably high given the options in injection techniques. Another data suggests that the same problem occurs in around 53% of patients when done by the "expert injectors". That number is also very high. At this point of time the bruising should be an unusual event rather then a dominating side effect of filler injections. The good news is that lip bruising will resolve within several days and, most likely, you will like the outcome. Good luck!
This is more bruising than normal and in such cases, it is best to notify your doctor to be properly assessed.
If the nodule is not tender, try to take it between your fingers as you would try to pinch it. Apply steady and rather strong pressure , hold it for 20-30 seconds then release. It should spread the accumulated filler at least partially. If successful, you can safely keep molding it until you ar...
Most of my patients find that the filler lasts 6 months to one year. Depending on the degree of augmentation desired, more can be added if indicated.
I understand very well your concerns. That shouldn't have happened considering your previous filler history which, I hope, you had a chance report to your new doctor. Although certain degree of swelling is always present, your photo suggests an exaggerated response due to either immediate in...
