I got my lips injected 3 times w/ juvederm ultra. Naturally I have very thin lips, my top lip was down turned. My issue is the shadow effect or fullness above my top lip. I did not have my vermillion border injected & was advised it may give me a ducky look. I don’t understand why some patients get this “mustache effect” & some can achieve huge lips without affecting the area above the lip. Why does the border of my top lip look puffed out? I went to a highly rated Black Diamond injector .
Answer: Mustache after Lip Augmentation with Fillers I'm not sure when you had your injections. It can take 1-2 weeks for final results. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase. I hope this helps!

Answer: Lip augmentation Dear ivanapetrov,I typically use Juvederm for my lip sculpting. There are two main focuses of lip injections, adding volume and actually sculpting the shape. Both involve injecting the filler in different areas of the lips and patterns. In case you are not satisfied with the results of your current injector, I would recommend finding a plastic surgeon to perform you lip injections for the best result. Most of my patients have results that last at least 6 months if done correctly.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: "Duck Look" with Lip Filler Hi and thank you for your question! Lip injection requires great skill for most natural looking results, and although your injector seems to be highly experienced it is still no guarantee. This being said, you didn't mention one key piece of info - the timeline of injection: If the injection was done less than 2 weeks ago, you still need to wait to make sure what you are seeing is not swelling. If it's past the 2 week period, then you can do a follow up with your injection and the filler can be revised and adjusted if needed. I hope it helps and good luck!

Answer: Lip filler tratment results If the treatment was performed less then 2 weeks ago, this may still represent swelling related to the injections. It is also possible that too much filler was placed at the margin of the upper. I would followup with your injector to discuss your concerns. If too much filler was used, it could certainly be reversed using hyaluronidase.

Answer: Lip injection and shadowing You will easily appreciate the reason behind the shadowing if you look at your side view photo. Too much of filler was injected into the lip, particularly in front of the muscle. This is very common problem when lip is injected for volume expansion and not for enhancement and re-shaping. Unfortunately, it also happens when the injector agrees to create un-aestheticaly overinflated lips. Even if filler is injected in a proper plane the excessive volume "spills over" to the surrounding tissue. The abnormality can be corrected with controlled injection of hyaluronidase to remove part of the filler. Good luck!
