Will I be swollen and bruised after getting a nose hump shaved?

Oct. of 2016 i had a septoplasty/rhinoplasty to correct my breathing, as well as the prominence and hump in my nose. 1 year later i still have a slight hump in my nose. My surgeon is going in and doing a minor surgery to shave down the bump. He said i wouldn’t require a cast or packing post-op. Will i have black eyes or excess swelling after? When will i be able to work/go out in public?

Revision  Rhinoplasty is more difficult than a primary rhinoplasty, and usually when removing a hump, osteotomies are required. This mandates placement of a cast for one week with visible bruising and swelling present for two weeks. Painful packing in the nose is no longer used in our practice for over 25 years. Probably best to check in with your operative surgeon about their specific  surgical rhinoplasty plan for your nose

If your surgeon is only shaving the hump, and not breaking the bones, you should not have bruising or excessive swelling.  Discuss the procedure with your surgeon.

There will be some swelling after hump removal. Assuming your surgeon is not breaking the bones again during this "minor" revision bruising may be minimal. I recommend you ak your surgeon who is doing the surgery about your recovery.
