What you are describing sounds more like a hernia than a lipoma. A hernia is a defect in the abdominal wall, which causes protrusion of abdominal contents (either fat or intestine) every time the pressure inside your abdomen is increased.....which would explain why you notice it more when you contract your muscles or try to get out of bed. You should make an appointment to see a surgeon as often these contents may become stuck and lead to complications requiring urgent surgery.
Your symptoms do not sound like a lipoma. Best bet would be to see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who can not only make the diagnosis but also treat whatever it is that you have.
This could be a lipoma or a hernia, among other things. Speak to your surgeon, who will give you the diagnosis with an examination.
Lipomas are fatty tumors that should be palpable with or without muscle- strain, (such as getting up from bed). Hernias, which are abdominal contents bulging through holes or weaknesses in the muscle wall of the abdomen, are very different, and they do bulge with muscle strain. these can become life threatening if the intestines get "trapped" in it. you should have this checked by a General Surgeon.
