What and Which Treatment to Choose?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

In the Cosmetic field, it is about the clients' priorities, and what is important to them. A good practitioner will spend the time to discuss this with you, then use their expertise to recommend what will give you the "biggest bang for the buck". Find a practice that you are comfortable with, that has a good selection of different types of treatments,( skin care, Botox/dysport/xeomin, fillers, laser, etc), and you should be able to get your "dreams" to come true :) Best Regards, Dr. Deb Irizarry, (debrairizarry.com)

Lasers Doesn't Work on my Large Nose Pores? (photo)

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

This is an acne scar. It can be treated with 100% Trichloroacetic Acid applied with a toothpick, (by a medical professional ONLY), to convert it to a more shallow scar that can be treated with dermabrasion or laser resurfacing. A dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon that is familiar with this technique can do this for you. I hope this information is helpful Jenny. Best Regards, doctordeb.co

Juvederm - Absorption & Time

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Juvederm does dissolve over time. The "9 months to 1 year" is a average, and it can last less or more time in some clients. The bluish coloration is typically the filler, and this cam be treated either with some hyaluronidase OR releasing with a scalpel "nick" or large needle puncture, (both of which tend to heal without leaving much or any scar).  Find a practitioner whom does a lot of filler and they should be able to advise you on what would work best with your situation and expectations.

How Safe is It to "Tie Off" a Raised Mole?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Moles, also known as nevi, grow from the deep layers of the skin. Although taking off the "top" by tying or another method may improve appearance, it will cause scarring that can change the ability to tell if the mole is having any cancerous changes. All pigmanted nevi have melanocytes, (the cells that make pigment), in them, and monitoring pigmented nevi by periodic physical examination is an important way of checking to make sure they do not show changes that are suspicious for melanoma development.

If the appearance of a mole is of concern, the best way to improve it is usually a "full-thickness" excision, (with stitches). Shave excisions will remove the mole but, can leave a "white spot" from the normal pigment being removed, and it is controversial in those cases where a malignancy may be found as it reduces the ability to predict how invasive the lesion is. Full thickness excisions performed by Plastic Surgeons place the incisions in a way that they heal to a fine line that should be minimally noticeable.

Bags Under Eyes (Age 48) - Treatment Options?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

As we age, the tissue that "holds back" the under eye fat relaxes, and the fat moves forward becoming more visible. The "extra" fat is removed with lower lid blepharoplasty, along with any extra sagging skin. This is a "minor" surgery. In some clients, a volume filler may help fill in the "trough" below the "bag" area. A Plastic surgeon experienced in fillers can evaluate your situation and make a good recommendation.

Permanent Worry Lines. Will Botox Help This?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

The deeper the "worry line", which is a crease in the skin from repeated "folding", the longer it takes the skin to repair. If you look at a wrinkle caused by muscles "folding" the skin, it looks like a scar, which can start to "heal" if the "folding" is weakened by Botox. As we mature, the skin thins out and loses elasticity, (the ability to "snap back" after being folded), and this causes the wrinkles to appear with age. If the wrinkle is very deep, the skin damage might not be entirely reversible, but, many times if you "keep up" with Botox for a year or two, it can go away, (a major  reason why Botox is so popular!). Sometimes a filler may be needed to help "support" the bottom of the wrinkle to correct it as well.  See an experienced injector and they should be able to evaluate your worry lines, and hopefully, over time, you will have one less thing to "worry" about.

I'm 23 Years Old and my Face Sags. Would a Mid-Facelift Help?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Thank you for posting the photos as they show some flattening and furrowing through the mid-cheek area. This is indicative of volume loss, and , much as a balloon deflating will result in the "shell" descending, the skin will sag as this occurs. This is seen in even young client such as yourself that start to see "aging" changes in their 20's. Having a firm filler such as Radiesse placed high on the cheekbones should give a nice, long-lasting, (12-15 month), lift, without surgery. Find an injector with experience in this injection and you should have a nice result. As you do have some "jowl" evident in the lower face, you may also need a SMALL amount of filler in the furrow just anterior to this to help "disguise" it and smooth the area. Beware of too much filler being placed in the lower face, as this can create an "older" appearance.

How Do Cheek Injections Work?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Fillers are an excellent choice for giving more prominence to the cheekbones.  If you want to "try" it, a filler such as Perlane will give about 9 months of result, and then if you want a longer lasting correction, Radiesse lasts 12-15 months. The cost of these varies from office to office, but make sure the injector is experienced in this treatment, and you should have a great result.  Fat injections and permanent, (silicone), implants are also an option, but involve surgery and so are more expensive, and prone to more possible complications.

Will Adding Juvederm to my Cheek Hollows Also Help Lift Some Sagging Around my Mouth ?

Asked By:AnonymousANSWERS (1)

Sagging of the skin of the face occurs from a combination of skin stretching, (elastosis), descent of tissues, (stretching of the suppoting ligaments), and from loss of volume. Much as a ballon deflating will have "sagging" of the shell, the loss of volume in the face will cause sagging that can be helped by volume fillers. Having them placed "high" on the cheekbones does this, and also corrects some of the bone shrinkage that contributes to volume loss in this area. Radiesse works very well for this as it is a firm supportiing filler. Hollows under the cheekbone are  a "soft" area that Juvederm works well in, after the cheek promini\ence have been corrected. Volume placed "high" in the face gives a rejuvenated appearance as this the "youthful" distribution of volume. If you have some jowling, a small amount of Radiesse placed deeply in front of the jowl can restore a smooth jawline.

Happy with my Botox Results!

I was looking for reduced wrinkles in between my eyebrows, and crows feet. The results are noticeable! My forehead has smoothed out, and the crows feet are much improved. The procedure was quick and comfortable. I did this procedure last December, and again in October, so it has lasted a long time. It was well worth the money to look refreshed. I've gotten several compliments too. No bruising or swelling either. Updated on 17 Jul 2018: excellent results! Dr. Deb Irizarry truly has my best interest at heart. I am so greatful to Dr. Irizarry for her gentle and caring approach. She is a genuine person who has great integrity. I would not have any person touch my face who I did not trust and I feel so grateful to have her as my provider. The lines around my eyes are so much better, and it has helped me to feel more confident and beautiful, and that is worth so much to me!

Seriously the Best Decision I've Ever Made

I've been to Dr Deb three time for lip injections using juvederm xc, and I'm so happy with my results! She is so professional and helped me on my way to fuller lips. Her judgement on placement has gotten me this far and I'm so happy with the results. I couldn't recommend her more! Her opinion on placement was the most important part of my visits. Working my with the existing anatomy of my lips to get a fuller look without looking ducky was the goal and she nailed it. She took her time with the injections to get s natural but full look. I absolutely love the outcome of my visits.

Best Surgeon I Could Have Asked for to Remove my Lipoma! - Creston, CO

It was difficult to decide to risk removing a lipoma that sat so close to the nerves in my jaw and sat over my jugular vein. But it was all I could see when I looked in the mirror and fiddling with it daily, I began to have a constant loathing of it. I talked with several doctors and none felt safe or qualified to me. I often thought I'd try to get used to it. But I kept looking for a doctor who I knew was the right one for the job. After 3 years, I felt comfortable with Dr. I and scheduled with her. It was the most amazing feeling to have it out, I wanted to cry. Dr. I was so careful to be conscious of ensuring that the scar would be next to invisible. I'm confident now and proudly put my hair up out of my face, chin up and smiling!
