My compression bra is quite tight. Is there a reason? I'm wearing a medium and I had 400cc gel implants under the muscle and the only time the pain seems to minimize is when I'm lying down but elevated. Is there such a thing as too tight? It's squeezing into my incisions I feel.

Answer: Compression bra Thanks for your posted question. I'd suggest contacting your plastic surgeon if you find the bra painful. Some surgeons don't feel that bras are required at all after BBA surgery but others feel that they should be worn continuously for a specific time after the operation, so there are a wide range of opinions. I personally tell my patients to remove their bra if they find it painful, and we discuss other options like using a different bra or simply not wearing it. However, your surgeon will have a care regimen that works well for their patients.

Answer: Bra after BA Dear Miss4555,your bra shouldn't cause you any discomfort or pain. Its only function is to provide support for your breasts until you are fully healed. I would suggest you to check the recommendations with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
