I had my breast augmentation surgery one week ago as was instructed to remove my steri strips and have my stitches removed by my primary care doctor at 7 days PO. I am scheduled to have stitches removed tomorrow and my incision still feel very sore and red after removing the tape. Is this normal? Also are my incisions supposed to look this way? I was expecting them to be much thinner. Will they improve??

Hello!  Thank you for your question!  It is not uncommon to have some pain at the incisions at this time. Given your photos, I do not see anything concerning. However, I do not see any sutures that need to be removed. I do not know why your PCP should evaluate your sutures and incisions, but would recommend that you follow up with your plastic surgeon. It is definitely normal to have some tenderness at the incision at this point. Without examining you in person it's difficult to know if the redness is a problem or not. If you are really concerned then I'd suggest booking an appointment with your surgeon to be examined to make sure everything is ok.

It is definitely normal that the incisions would still be sore at one week.  As for the appearance, it is difficult to tell from the photos.  I would pay a visit to your plastic surgeon and have them take a look.

Thank you for your question. Based on your photos and being one week post op, your incisions seem to be healing well with out any concerns. It's difficult to see the redness and texture of the scar; you may have had a reaction to your steri-strips. Keep in mind your only one week post op and your incisions will continue to heal. I recommend you to follow up with your plastic surgeon for further examination and recommendations.

It is normal to see some irritation and have soreness at the incision site 1 week after surgery.  Your incision looks like it is healing although your physician will be able to examine you and give you a more detailed answer.  Best wishes.
