Dont worry francesca, usually patietns who had filler prior to hop in on a flight usually complain of temporary swelling (hours), you'll be OK. Have a blast on your trip
Hello, and thank you for your question. I usually recommend waiting 2 weeks before an event or a trip as bruising and swelling can last for 2 weeks or more. Flying can increase the risk of swelling, bruising, and tenderness as the pressure will be much higher in an airplane. Additionally, most complications occur in the first 24-48 hours after dermal filler and if that would happen, you need to have appropriate access to treatment modalities. If you are concerned, you should discuss this with your injector.
Yes, you can fly the day after your lip filler treatment. Keep in mind that you may still have swelling and bruising. Closely follow your injector's post treatment instructions. Use a cold compress intermittently, keep your head elevated, and avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. Using arnica and bromelain may also be helpful.
Hello francesca888! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Shah Facial Plastics. Thank you for your question. It is completely safe to fly after receiving lip filler. I advise all of my patients to avoid strenuous exercise and sweating for 24 hours after receiving any type of dermal filler. I hope this helps and best of luck!
It is fine if you fly, however it is important not to fly on the same day of the procedure so that you are in the same city as your doctor in case you have any questions or complications.
Flying after lip filler is not a problem and is safe. Just remember you may still have some visible swelling that day.
I would not see any problem with flying the day after receiving filler to the lips. I would recommend you check with the physician who would be treating you though, as your physician may feel differently.
Generally, it is not recommended to fly the day after fillers are injected. For best results, I usually inform clients to wait about a week after fillers to fly. I would recommend rescheduling your appointment to after your vacation to be safe.
Whether it is a filler like Restylane or Juvederm (e.g. hyaluronic acid filler), or other type of filler, or even botulinum toxin (e.g. Botox, Dysport), there is no issue with flying right away. That said, because sometimes a tweak/adjustment may be needed after a treatment, it's more ideal to have the treatment and be around for a couple of weeks just in case an issue arises. If you've had the filler or botulinum toxin treatment in that specific location (e.g. lips in your case) before, and its the same expert physician injector treating you (e.g. dermatologist), then unlikely that you'll have any new issues.
Before your flight, it’s advisable to consult with your healthcare provider and wait for a minimum of 24 hours.
