Can Voluma be displaced due to sleep? If so, what are next steps for a side sleeper?

Hello and thank you for your question.  A lot of what you may be experiencing is the swelling post injection.  The pressure from sleeping may have compressed the swelling and therefore it may have seemed less puffy and even less sore.  Although it is unlikely that the filler will migrate, I always advise sleeping on your back as best you can for the first few nights.  The complete healing process (swelling, tenderness, and bruising) can take up to 2 weeks. Keep in mind, you may have swelling, which can be asymmetrical, and last 1-2 weeks after lip injections. Hi,I generally ask patient  story sleep on their back for three days after Voluma cheek placement to avoid shifting.  You can do this by placing a pillow on each side to prevent rolling on one side.Warmly,Dr.Liu

After an injection swelling is normal. Asymmetry is within the norm for about two weeks. After a Voluma injection, I explain to patients try to sleep on your back for the next several nights. If they are a side sleeper, try using a travel U shaped pillow and sleep in a recliner. Or, Hug your pillow resting down on your jawline so you cheek is off the pillow. 

No, the product cannot migrate to distant areas. You could have rid the area of some swelling. No worries. Please contact your injector. 

Thank you for your question. The bottom line answer is yes side sleeping can change the effect of Voluma. If you sleep on your side it is best to put a soft pillow between you face and your hand. Once you have noticed a difference I would contact your provider and have them look at it to see what your next steps would be.
