Can getting a tummy tuck after a breast augmentation affect the location of the implant?

The bottom of the breast inserts on the chest wall and will not be disrupted by a properly executed abdominoplasty. The operation was no effect on the position of the breast implants.

You most certainly can get a tummy tuck after a breast augmentation. The tummy tuck will not affect the position of your breast augmentation. Good luck. 

A tummy tuck can certainly be performed after a breast augmentation without affecting the location of your breast augmentation scar. Discuss this with your plastic surgeon but I have never seen an issue with this combination or sequence of surgeries.Best wishes,Dr.Bruno

The mommy makeover really is anything you want it to be!I have used labiaplasty (vaginal rejuvenation), abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), mastopexy (breast lift), breast augmentation, eyelid surgery, and liposuction in various combinations to achieve the mommy makeover.These procedures, however, can be done independently or together without compromising the outcome.Having breast implants first followed by tummy tuck (I would recommend at least 3 months of recovery between procedures) is perfectly fine. Pulling down the tummy skin does not affect the breast implant incision or result.The only word of caution I have with the mommy makeover is the length of surgery. "First do no harm" is a common dictum that we all learn as medical students. I tend to keep any and all combined surgeries under 5 hours of anesthesia to protect the patient from complications such as infection and blood clots (deep vein thrombosis). As I often say in my consultations: Safety first, beauty second.

A tummy tuck performed after a previous breast augmentation should not affect the position of the breast in a normal healthy patient. There may be an exception to this however in the patient who has lost a great deal of weight. Sometimes this skin is very loose and a later abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) may change the position of the lower fold of the breast slightly.

Thank you for the question.  You seem to have a well thought out plan.  The lower portion of the breast fold actually has attachments to the chest wall.  In normal circumstances, a tummy tuck will affect the lower portion of the breast minimally and can be safely executed after a breast augmentation.  However, after massive weight loss (over 100 Lbs), the soft tissue of the entire torso can be loose enough that this combination of surgeries needs to be approached with additional planning and caution.  A board certified plastic surgeon will be able to advise you what approach is best for you after an in-person consultation.  Best of luck.--Dr. Mussman

Thanks for the question. You don't need to worry. Breast augmentation should not be affected by abdominoplasty in most circumstances. The lower fold of the breast supports the breast tissue and should not be disturbed by the abdominoplasty. In rare cases of severe weight loss, skin excision in various areas of the body can affect other areas and requires planning with a comprehensive plan.

You should be fine having a tummy tuck after your breast augmentation. Your implants should not be affected by the tummy tuck.
