I got a BBL in March so I’m six months postop, After a long day I noticed that my butt is sore even if I use a BBL pillow throughout the day, why is my butt still sore six months after postop?

Answer: Discomfort after sitting I have no idea why your bottom is sore after sitting but I could imagine that sitting on a BBL pillow all day would put most of the pressure on the thighs rather than your buttocks and this could cause an unusual pressure distribution. I suggest you follow up with your provider. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: BBL Recovery Hello, Thank you for your question. This is Dr. James Fernau from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is not typically normal to have extreme soreness 6 months post-op. It is important to note that the soreness should not be of concern unless it is accompanied by swelling, redness, or drainage which are all indicative of an infection. However, some residual soreness may still be present. Some of the soreness could be due to sitting all day. I recommend walking often, at least 1-4 miles a day. This enhances blood flow to the subcutaneous fat and flexes the gluteus maximus muscle to improve blood flow to the fat. If the soreness is extreme and/or followed by the aforementioned symptoms, I recommend following up with your plastic surgeon for a post-op evaluation. Best of luck in your healing process. Sincerely, Dr. James Fernau
