Hi ! I did a BBL surgery in Turkey, the nurse told me I couldn't sit on my buttocks during 6 months but my french doctor told me 3 months was enough. I read here and in the other social medias that 6 to 8 weeks is good. I am lost actually lol, can u help me ? Also, I go to school everytime with my BBL pillow, is it okay ? Although, never sat since my surgery. Thank you !
Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear Charming953020, I instruct my patients not to sit for 2 solid weeks. We provide them a specialized pillow that our patients can sit on during that time. They can sleep on their stomachs or sides. Fat viability depends a lot of surgeon technique. The fat has to be placed back into the buttocks as soon as possible so that it has a greater chance of survival. It has to be placed carefully so that not too much fat is placed in only one area. Answer: When can I sit after a BBL ? 6,8,12 weeks? Hello dear!! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. Each doctor has their own protocol. It is very important that you talk to him about your concerns and goals. I recommend my patients not to sit for more than 30 mins. every two hours, for the first 2 weeks, and always with the help of a boppy pillow. If you have any concerns, I suggest you follow up close with your plastic surgeon. Hope this is helpful. Good luck :)

Answer: International surgery consortium It is inappropriate for us to recommend anything other than your own doctors postoperative protocol. I would not appreciate another surgeon telling my patients to change what I recommend for them. I think you’ll find this attitude to be consistent. The fact that I recommend my patients not sit for the first three weeks does not change your doctors recommendation I’m not sitting for six months. Each doctor is responsible for their own work including surgical outcomes and postoperative protocols. Likewise each patient is individual responsible for choosing their surgeon. Best luck with your ongoing studies. Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: Avoiding buttock pressure after BBL Hi and welcome to our forum!I don't think you will get a consensus of opinion here. One avoids excessive buttock pressure after BBL to prevent injury to the grafted fat and prevent early fatty tissue migration away from the areas of applied pressure. At the same time, compression is recommended externally to prevent bleeding or serum collection. As you have noted, each plastic surgeon has his / her own individual postoperative treatment plan based upon what has worked most satisfactorily in practice. In our practice, we recommend total pressure avoidance for the first three weeks, leaning forward on posterior thighs when seated for 6 weeks, and the use of a "butt pillow" for 6 weeks as well.Visit a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation and discussion if unsure. Best wishes...
