What are all the options to help diminish “smoker lines”? I also have an old scar on my top lip from a car accident 27 years ago and a newer scar from a grand mal seizure 2 years ago. I had a head on collision and my head went thru the windshield and cut my upper lip. Can’t see it that much when I have make-up on. I also have a scar below my lower lip. I had a grand mal seizure a 2 years ago and I bit right through my skin. Again, make-up helps. Options for scars and vertical lines.
Answer: Fillers: Perioral lines Dear DeannaS, Thank you for your question. It is difficult to make an accurate assessment and recommendations based on photographs alone. I recommend you seek an in-person consultation with a facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who can perform a thorough examination and recommend the best treatment options to address your goals. There are a variety of treatment options to help improve the appearance of smoker lines as well as scars in the perioral region. Filler can help fill in deeper smoker lines. Skin resurfacing procedures such as laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and microneedling can help improve skin texture and appearance in this area. If the scars are raised, they can also be further improved by steroid or other anti inflammatory injections.

Answer: Lip lines and scars A combination of Botox and filler can be used to improve "smoker lines." As for the scars, it depends on the type of scar. If they are indented, then sometimes filler can be used. Sometimes an additional revision surgery can help. It all depends on the look of the scar. I would recommend seeing a facial plastic surgeon in consultation regarding these issues, to determine which approach would be best.

Answer: Options to diminish smoker/lip lines and small scars Thank you for your question! Fine lines above the lip can happen over time due to genetics, repetitive movements, etc. Neuromodulator treatments (such as Botox), dermal filler treatments, or microneedling are commonly used treatments in this area. Dermal filler, or hyaluronic acid, is a commonly used treatment in this area to soften fine lines by restoring volume. There are a variety of different kinds of a dermal filler available, and an experience aesthetic injector can make a recommendation for you based on your aesthetic goals. Neuromodulator treatments(like Botox or dysport) can also help soften fine lines above the mouth by relaxing muscle. Microneedling is a procedure that stimulates your own natural collagen through controlled punctures to the skin. With consistent treatments, microneedling can soften fine lines, reduce scarring, and help with overall skin tone and texture. There are many different treatment options available for vertical lip lines, and an experienced aesthetic provider can create an individualized treatment plan for you at a consultation. Best of luck to you on your aesthetic journey! Have an amazing holiday!!

Answer: Treatment options for smoker's lines and scar improvement You have many options. For the vertical/smoker's lines, a little botox can help, but if the lines are present at rest, I'd definitely add a filler. Laser resurfacing (e.g. ProFractional laser, etc) can also be quite helpful and would help the scars around your mouth. Microneedling +/- platelet rich plasma (PRP) can also help. For stubborn scars, sometimes just cutting them out (surgical scar revision) is not a bad idea. Best to chat with and get properly assessed by a highly trained and experienced physician such as a dermatologist to optimize results and safety.
