My dream outcome for my labiaplasty is the barbie look, with no inner lips showing. But my regular gyno said the more they remove the more sensation I will lose and he doesn't even want me to get the surgery at all. Is it true? I also have the perineal raphe where it joins my inner lips on my anal area. Can it be removed at the same surgery? I'm 19, white skin, 5'6" and 141 lb.
Answer: Risk of sensation loss with Barbie look Thank you for your questionAlthough there are some surgeons that tout the barbie look, I am not one. There is a reason that labia exist. ie. to protect the opening decrease infection etc. but moreover, the complication. Just look at all the question and answer pagas on RealSelf and see the complaints of botches, pain etc. with women who have had this technique. They may not say "barbie" but instead say that too much was removed. There are other beautiful techniques that can avoid these problems and preserve sensation. See the video below to learn more.

Answer: If you want to lower the risk of sensation loss with labiaplasty, go to an expert Most regular gynecologists know little to nothing about labiaplasty and their opinions should be viewed in that context. A low-profile or "barbie" effect is possible in most women with no risk of decreased sensation provided the surgeon knows the anatomy of the nerves and has the skill, education and experience to reshape your labia to deliver a beautiful result. I recommend that you schedule a virtual consultation with an expert and travel if you must. The raphe can certainly be treated at the same time.

Answer: Sensation after labiaplasty You should not lose sensation with Labiaplasty if done by a cosmetic gynecologist with expertise in this kind of surgery. You can do a perineoplasty at the same time to fix the perineal raphe.

Answer: Barbie Look Labiaplasty You shouldn't lose any feeling if a typical labiaplasty is done correctly. For a labiaplasty, it is crucial that you consult a skilled cosmetic gynecologist. When done correctly, you shouldn't have any loss of feeling and it will still be a labia that is barely visible. .

Answer: “Barbie look” You can have the outcome you want with a standard labiaplasty and hood reduction. There is no need to “remove everything” to have hidden inner labia when standing. All that is needed is that the inner labia are shorter than the outer labia. A hood reduction is required in nearly all cases. These can be performed without changes in sensation. Period.
