4 months post op. Septum was Superiorly deviated to the right and caudal on the left into the nostril, columella shifted to the left, nasal stenosis on the left. Dr. told me she would not be able to get nostrils symmetrical, but that there would be some improvement. I am worried because I don't feel like the nostrils and columella look any better. She said there is Irritation/edema over left medial vestibule at caudal septal repair. Will I see further improvement? If not, revision options?

What catches my eye is that the tip is strongly forward projecting. The tip stands out off of the line that the rest of the bridge makes. If the tip were to be brought back closer to your face, that would make the nose *look* longer, and it might be all you need, or most of all you need, from...
It is difficult to fully assess this without photos. "fullness" in the area you have described is often referred to as a polybeak deformity and it can be due to a variety of factors, including inadequate tip support/position and excess tissue in the supra-tip area (scar vs grafted material)....
Since rib cartilage is not a foreign body, once it is integrated into your own body, I believe the risk of infection is very slim. This is completely different from a foreign body implant like silicone or Gore-Tex. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph
