Is infection due to a coastal cartilage graft something that can occur years after the procedure?

I've read that the risk of infection from using costal cartilage from my own body in a revision rhinoplasty is a real concern. However, does this risk only manifest in the short term, within the first year after the operation, or is it possible that it could occur even after 10-20 years? So, after the healing period, is it in any way possible for an infection to occur?
