After my tummy tuck, will I be able to see my abs upon recovery, returning to the gym and healthy dieting?

Question

So i lost a lot of weight about 5 years ago, and ever since ive been training pretty much like an athlete almost, bodybuilding, cross fit, calisthenics, running etc, and just did a tummy tuck. My Question is upon recovery, returning to the gym, healthy dieting, will i see my abs, if i say get to around 8% fat or so.

If you have worked very hard to strengthen and tone your abdominal muscles after a tummy tuck and they should be readily seen because you have very little fat below the skin.Earl Stephenson Jr MD DDS FACS

A tummy tuck will tighten the laxity that exists between the rectus/six pack muscles and will also tighten the skin of the abdomen. This will provide the environment to be able to obtain a six pack appearance. Obtaining this look also requires rectus muscle size increase thru vigorous "core" work and having  low enough total body fat to enable the strong rectus muscles to be visible. Maybe.  It's impossible to say without at least a photo and, preferably, an exam.  And, even then, it may be difficult to predict exactly what the results will be, whether from this or any other surgical procedure.But whether or not you can see your abs, you may be thrilled with the results of the surgery.  The best thing would be to have a consultation with a BC plastic surgeon and, when you're there, get a sense of the overall results.  If the ONLY thing you're concerned about is seeing your abs you might risk being disappointed with what should otherwise be considered an excellent surgical result.I hope that this helps and good luck,Dr. E
