I'm 27, am I too young to get Botox? Will it damage/worsen my skin as I age? Should I wait until I have more wrinkles?

Even though you are young, if you see two prominent wrinkles running horizontally on your forehead that bothers you, you should think about having Botox performed prophylactically to prevent those wrinkles from setting in permanently. When we are young we have movement lines that can become lines that eventually set in and stick around later in life when we aren't moving our faces. To prevent this from happening I have many patients in their 20's and 30's who get Botox for this reason specifically. It will not damage/worsen your skin as you age, as I explained above it will improve the appearance of those areas of concern. As long as you are currently not pregnant or breast feeding, there is no reason you need to wait until you have more wrinkles. 

If you are starting to see dynamic lines from facial movement, you are not too young to receive Botox injections. Botox is not only corrective but it is preventative!

You are not too young to try Botox. In fact, 27 is a good age to start with small doses of Botox, to prevent deep lines in the future. You also want to maintain good skin care habits and use sun protection. 

I think 27 is an excellent age to start Botox.  If done consistently, the lines in your forehead will go away.  Botox is also preventative for future wrinkles.  In my experience, my young patients have great results.  Some of my first patients I am still injecting 20 years later!!  And they look great and are happy they started young.

Everyone has a unique anatomy and tendency to make facial expressions.  The more expressive you are - the more you are exercising the muscles and they will eventually form creases at rest.   It's normal to see wrinkles in motion when you elevate your eyebrows.  The big question is do you see the lines at rest?   If so  - then Botox may be a good option.  Botox works on stopping the muscles in motion in 3-7 days and the effect is temporary - lasting 3-4 months.  The horizontal lines you are describing are more difficult to treat than the crow's feet or glabellar (#11 lines) - so find an experienced injector who will maintain your natural anatomy without "spocking" or "dropping" the eyebrows.

Yes, you can get Botox. I often recommend my younger patients to start early with anti-aging and preventative treatments. It can take 1-2 weeks for final results with Botox. Botox results will last 3-4 months. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Botox doesn't have an age. If those lines are bothering you then I often say its a good time as botox will soften them and allow them not to get deep in the future. It can be used a preventative in your case

Dear lblearning,no, you are not too young for Botox. Botox is generally an on off switch for muscle activity. I get a fair amount of actors/actresses in my practice that are looking to reduce wrinkles but keep some expression. 27 is not too young for Botox.  People age differently and so there may be some 27 year olds who would be good candidates for Botox and others who would not.  Botox normally would work well to treat horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, so it sounds as if it could help with your issue and prevent it from getting worse.
