How can I tell if I will be square shaped after a tummy tuck? (photos)

Hello and thank you for the question and photos. You look like an excellent candidate for a tummy tuck, with a nice shape to your core muscles and skeletal shape. I see no reason why you would have a square shape following a tummy tuck. A tummy tuck should remove all of the excess skin and fat, and give you a nice flat abdomen with a good waistline. Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon for the best results. Good luck.

Your are certainly an excellent candidate fir a tummy tuck and can expect a great result. I am not sure what the squareness you’re refer to is all about but you show show some of those photos to your surgeon to get his or her input.

If you are not planning future pregnancies, I recommend abdominoplasty with mesh reinforcement.  The mesh creates a more hourglass figure by compressing the abdominal wall resulting in early satiety and helps maintain a reduced weight.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

If good technique is used, you will not have a square shape.  Based on your photographs and skin laxity, you are a great candidate for a tummy tuck with liposuction.  This can be done through a low and short incision, all completely below the bikini line.  The belly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars on the exterior.   Your muscles can also be plicated resulting in a flat abdomen.  Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.

based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a TT. Full tummy tuck should tighten your abdominal muscles and remove the excess skin. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon because only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Thank you for the photos.  You would be a great candidate (given that you are otherwise healthy) for a tummy tuck procedure along with liposuction of the hips/flanks.  Judging by the photos, you do not appear to have a boxy anatomy and do have a nice waist line. Some patients no matter what is done in the surgery will have a boxy outcome given their anatomy.  You do not appear to be one of those patients.

will remove the excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen
and I would recommend repairing the abdominal muscle as it seems you
have separation there, this would create an abdominal profile that is
smoother and firmer. Liposuction on the flanks is often done with a
tummy tuck to help achieve an hour glass figure to avoid the square shape result. I
would consult with a plastic surgeon in person so they may best explain
the procedures, help go over all the risks, and help you achieve the

Hi, thank you for your question.I think you would be a great candidate for tummy tuck with liposuction of the flanks to achieve an hour-glass shape. This in conjunction with muscle plication will help achieve a tightened midsection and help avoid a square shape.I hope this helps. Best of luck! 

Thank you for your question and series of photographs.  Nothing replaces an in-person examination, but I think you would most benefit from a full/extended tummy tuck and liposuction of your waist and flanks.  The tummy tuck will tighten your stomach muscles, helping to achieve a flatter appearance, while removing excess skin and adipose tissue.  Liposuction can be used to enhance your tummy tuck results by narrowing your waist and removing isolated areas of diet and exercise resistant fat, limiting the square shape appearance you are concerned about.  Hope that this helps
