Can you Have mini tummy tuck/ breast augmentation surgery with a cough?

Question

I’m scheduled to have breast augmentation, mini tummy tuck and inner thigh lipo in 2 days, I started this annoying cough a week ago, no other symptoms just my throat gets sore from coughing, at first symptoms I called my surgeon and they told me to go see my primary care, I did and got prescribed ZPak more as preventative, I finished that yesterday but the cough still lingers, specially at night. I don’t feel sick or anything just a tickle in my throat once in a while. What do I do ?

You will need to have an in person evaluation by your surgeon and or anesthesiologist. It is best that you are feeling 100 percent healthy before undergoing any type of surgery. Best of luck!

Your surgeon will need to make the assessment depending on whether your cough is severe or if you have a fever. Every patient is different and every surgeon is different regarding whether your surgery can proceed. But definitely contact your surgeon as soon as you can

This would be best assessed by your surgeon as well as the anesthesiologist.  Listening to your lungs would help know if this is a lung issue or more from your upper respiratory track (like a post nasal drip).  Either way, it would be best to get this cleared up, at least in my mind, before proceeding with surgery.Hope that helps.

You need to alert your primary care, your surgeon and anesthesiologist right away. They will determine if you are able to continue with your surgery. A lingering coughing is not going into surgery in the best of health. Good luck.

Elective surgery should only be performed under optimal conditions.
