I have abdominal/flank lipo, BBL, fat transfer to breast, and abdominoplasty scheduled. I know these are really major surgeries with a lot of recovery time. But, I live alone and I'm really uncomfortable personally and culturally asking someone I know to watch me 24/7 for a while. I feel like I can take care of the basics fine with some prep, and major complications I'd need help with seem very very low. Am I missing anything? Why are people so insistent that you need a 24/7 caretaker?
Answer: My recommendation Hello dear. Thank you for your question and provided information as well. If you are considering getting all those surgeries together, you definitey need a caretaker 24/7 since you won't be able to do thing normally. I always recommend a nurse to my patients for a better and faster recovery, at least for the first 10 days. Hope this helps and best of lucks. Dr. Luis Mejia.

Answer: Why exactly do you need a 24/7 caretaker for after surgery? Hello and thank you for your question. In the immediate post op period and while you are recovering from anesthesia, you will need another person to help with transport from and to the surgery center, ambulation, medications, dressing changes, feeding, etc. If you live by yourself, many plastic surgeons can arrange for professional nursing care in the first 24 hours post op. Speak with your surgeon. Best, Pejman Aflaki, M.D. Johns Hopkins-trained double board-certified plastic surgeon

Answer: Recovery time Dear Affectionate9097, that is a lot of surgeries to recover from without any help. Most patients need some help during early postoperative period. Some plastic surgeons may want to split this into two operations depending on the time needed. It is best however that you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine whether you can have several aesthetic surgeries in one session, as this would depend on various factors including but not limited to your general health condition, the type of anesthesia that will be used, and the type of surgeries that will be performed among others. Answer: Why exactly do you need a 24/7 caretaker for after surgery? Our office has personal nursing care available for those individuals who need that level of care or who merely desire that level of care. The first 24 hours after your surgery can be the most challenging, since you may still be in pain, recovering from the effects of anesthesia, require mobility assistance, or in need of extra support with changing bandages, and grooming. You can arrange for an LVN or CNA to check on you after the first 24 hours should you need help physically or emotionally. You must be discharged from our fully accredited surgery center to an adult who will be responsible for your care the first 24 hours.

Answer: Caregiver assistance after BBL, fat transfer to breast, abdominoplasty Hi and welcome to our forum! The abdominoplasty segment of the procedure is a major surgery involving skin, soft tissue and muscle. The BBL and breast fat transfer will be no walk in the park either. The effects of a general anesthetic may not completely subside for 24 hours. Just as activity is limited after a C-section, one is limited in what one is able to do after the procedure. Assistance to the bathroom, assistance with meals, assistance with wound management, and assistance to the first few office visits may be required. Its best (and safest) to have some help for at least the first 3 days. Best wishes...
