I am currently considering a nose job but I feel it will not be enough to better my side profile. I was thinking of maybe fillers or etc. I would like some opinions.
Answer: What can I do to improve my profile? Thank you for your question.I would recommend that when you have your rhinoplasty that you have a dorsal augmentation graft with either your own tissue or silicone implant. In terms of your chin you can use that you can use filler, fat Or you can use implant. I personally think an easier approach is to use your fat or use a temporary filler to see if it's something that you like the way it looks before going into something more permanent. Good luck and I hope this helps. All the best,Carlos Mata M.D., MBA, FACSBoard-certified plastic surgeon

Answer: Facial profile Hi rose1345,I definitely think a chin implant would be of benefit. A silicone implant is durable and lasts for years with a very low rate of malposition or shifting. In addition, although it is hard to tell based on the photo, your nose will likely benefit from augmentation of the dorsum. Fillers can be used to accomplish both the chin and nasal changes, but are only temporary. Surgical treatment will offer permanent results. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns!

Answer: Fillers vs Surgery Hello and thanks for your question. It never hurts to try filler prior to having surgery. This gives you a good idea of what augmenting your profile will look like first-hand, rather than via computer imaging. Wait until all filler has dissolved before having surgery. Most hyaluronic acids last approximately one year. I'd suggest trying a little in the chin for more projection to see if that balances your profile in a way that is pleasing to you.

Answer: What can I do to have a better side profile? Nasal cosmetic surgery and a chin implant are frequently performed together in the appropriate patient to improve the profile. The ideal aesthetic result should be individualized to achieve harmony with your other facial features and improve the areas that concern you. Whether a chin implant or temporary injectable flllers would be optimal depends on multiple factors including your desired outcome and personal anatomy. Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on a two dimensional photo without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best interest. Natural appearing results need to be individualized and what is appropriate for one patient is not necessarily the best for someone else. I would suggest that you find a surgeon with extensive rhinoplasty experience certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or a facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. The extent and length of the procedure, cost, and the specific operative steps to achieve an ideal cosmetic result vary from patient to patient and would depend on the findings at your consultation examination.Robert Singer, M.D., FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Chin implant for side profile Thank you for sharing your concern. A proper consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon is a proper way to start. Based on one image, an appropriate sized chin implant may be helpful for you. This would make the jawline stronger and possibly more shaped if desired. Best wishes!
