I don't want a small nose I just want it to be less ugly. I have a bifid lower nose and very low hanging columela and crooked septum. If the split end gets sutured, will the columela be too narrow when looked facing forward? I just want a normal nose without those ugly features, is this possible without making the nose too small?

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Your photographs show a separation of your lower lateral cartilage. This can be fixed with rhinoplasty surgery. Your hanging columella can also be addressed. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
