When repairs are done within the first 5-6 months post surgery, the likelihood of break down again is high! It is best to wait at least 6 months for best outcome. Second time around, make sure risk of tension and infection is decreased. May need to rest more for best outcome. Good luck.

Thank you for your question,Due to the inflammatory response associated with the healing that occurs with surgery, the sutures will commonly fail to hold and will create more problems. Best to wait until healing is complete to get optimum results.

By all means...wait. There is obviously separation. Time is your friend. Also consult and experienced cosmetic gynecologist or urogynecologist.

It is better to wait to let the wound heal before having a revision done. It is too swollen now and if
your surgeon tries to revise it too soon, he/she may not know exactly how much to revise due to your
swelling. Also, the stitches will not hold as well if the tissue is swollen with fluid.

I would recommend waiting a minimum of 6 months before doing any revision.

No attempt to revise your labia should be done until you are at least five months after your past procedure as your appearance will improve and the swelling will be less. You need to control your anxiety and wait. The reconstruction is more difficult than a primary labiaplasty and should be done by a plastic surgeon with extensive experience in labia reconstruction. You should reconsider your surgeon since it occurred with him and a correction now is a mistake that will probably fail again. I published the first and most extensive paper on labia reconstruction in the prestigious journal "Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery" about ten years ago. You only get one good chance to reconstruct you, so be patient and ask a lot of questions.

Sorry about your experience with your recent labiaplasty. You should let it heal and postpone any revision till you are fully healed, at least 4-5 months.
You should seek out a second opinion to help you make sure you make the right decision and choose the best surgeon for your revision labiaplasty.

Any expert in labiaplasty knows that restitching a broken scar immediately doesn't work. The tissues are too weak and too brittle to hold stitches. They will rip out and the scar will separate exactly like you experienced. You need to wait until the tissues have healed completely and regained full strength. This takes 6 months. The real question is why did the scar break in the first place? was it accidental trauma? poor technique? too much tension? Restitching 2 weeks later and recommending the same poor strategy again is not the mark of an expert.

Hi Elizabeth, it looks like your doctor performed a wedge-technique labiaplasty. Unfortunately these can have up to a 20% complication rate and breakdown. There are other labiaplasty techniques with lower complication rates. Nonetheless I would highly recommend waiting at least 3 months before you do anything else, as the tissue needs to fully heal if you are going to operate on this area again.
