Hi, I hope your appointment went well. This is likely gynaecomastia with an element of congenital asymmetry (difference present from birth). You should ask your GP to rule out causes such as medications that you may be taking, or hormonal changes. Gynaecomastia is not a life-threatening or physically harmful condition but it can impact quality of life and psychological well-being. If you wish to address the problem then I would recommend consulting a surgeon with a specialist interest in the condition. Best of luck.

From the photos you have provided there appears to be a small increase in the breast volume without any skin excess. The photos suggest that the left breast is slightly larger than the right. It is important to visit your GP so that you can have a comprehensive breast examination to rule out any underlying pathology which may need to be addressed. The Gp can also do certain blood tests to confirm or rule out any known conditions which can lead to gynaecomastia e.g. hyperthyroidism, low testosterone, elevated estradiol etc. After your investigations are complete, it would be worth visiting a plastic surgeon for discussion about gynaecomastia surgery.

Thank you for your question. From the photos you have posted it does look like you may have gynecomastia. Gynecomastia consists of 3 components, skin, breast tissue and fat. I would suggest seeing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in person to evaluate you and discuss your options. Best of luck to you.

One side does seem indeed to have an excess of breast tissue which is herniating slightly, hence why the double bubble effect that looks like a crease in the middle of the lower pole of your chest. Remember that this is a condition fairly easy to correct

There are many causes of gynecomastia and it is important to undergo a complete and thorough evaluation. Gynecomastia is a condition characterized by enlarged breast tissue and affects 40-60% of men. Fortunately, the condition can be treated with liposuction. I used a combination of liposuction techniques and use fine cannulas through a small incision that is hidden in the nipple areola complex.

Thank you for the question and pictures you have provided. When i examine your body, it seems like the fat amount on your chest area piled up greatly, comparing to your uppur body. If you try to go to the gym regularly and eat healthy, we can re-evaluate of your situation to see if the fat is stubborn or if it can dissappear naturally.
But for now, you look like a good candidate for gynecomastia operation. I just wanted to suggest other ways before considering operation.
I must inform you that gynecomastia isn’t a tough or long surgery and it is quite easy to recover from. Don’t let the appearance of your breast get you down! If there is a problem, there is also a solution. You can see some of the good results below and hopefully you find this answer useful.

Both men and women have a breast tissue. And some men the breast tissue develops slightly more than average and that is referred to as gynecomastia. It can be graded but generally if there’s enough breast tissue to look less than ideal and then you are at least on the spectrum of gynecomastia. The degree or amount of glandular breast tissue can be determined by examination. You can squeeze your areola‘s or nipples yourself and feel the size of the firm glandular tissue under the areola. another way to get a clear visualization of the shape amount and contour of the breast tissue is to put the pectoralis muscle and skin under tension with one arm at a time is stretched behind your head. do that while looking in the mirror or better yet do that while taking a picture using the timer on your camera or have someone else take a picture. with the pectoralis muscle and skin under tension you see the contour of the glandular tissue very clearly.
This is also a really good way to assess the outcome after gynecomastia surgery.
There are three variables that contribute to fullness of the Male chest. These are skin laxity excess subcutaneous fat and actual breast tissue. all three can be an issue and it’s important to differentiate which one is primary secondary tertiary etc.
For example older men or individuals who’ve had massive weight loss are likely to have skin laxity as one of the major or possibly primary problems. Those with a fatty chest with more diffuse overall fullness have a fat distribution issue I need to have liposuction in conjunction with glandular excision. For most patient’s gynecomastia surgery should include at least some glandular excision and then some individuals glandular access is the primary problem.
During surgery and not all glandular tissue can be removed or patients will be left disfigured with grotesque indentations that look highly abnormal.
Gynecomastia surgery is not the easiest procedure to do consistently and anybody interested in the procedure should be careful in selecting a provider who has sufficient skills and experience.
Do that but I have a multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons who’ve been in practice for a few decades.
Ask providers to show their entire collection of before and after pictures. Being shown a handful of sample pictures which most likely represent the best results of their career is totally in sufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like. You’re also in the hands of a good provider when they clearly differentiate and talk about skin fat and glandular tissue has three different components that need to be assessed and or treated.
Most patients end up with a combination of liposuction with direct glandular excision which requires a small incision around the areola which typically heals well with time.
It can lead to numbness or partial numbness of your nipple which may be permanent.
Most people get at least some or fairly close to normal sensation that returns with enough time after surgery.
While reviewing before and after pictures asked to see as many pictures as possible of patients who’s chest looks just like yours. an experienced provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 30-50 sets of before and after pictures for this fairly common procedure. Highly experienced surgeons will have hundreds or possibly even thousands of before and after pictures.
Asked to see examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes and outcomes that did not turn out as good as the surgeon and patient had hoped for it. Ask how often they do revisions and ask to see examples of revision surgery and what the results look like before and after the revision.
If too much glandular tissue was removed during the procedure the outcome becomes irreparable.
Other than that it’s not that difficult of a procedure. It can be done using local anesthesia or in an operating room with general anesthesia. The form of anesthesia doesn’t really matter but it’ll be more expensive if you’re paying cash and it’s done under general anesthesia.
If surgeons are reluctant to open their portfolio and start showing you the pictures you’re asking for and tell them they’re interviewing with multiple surgeons and one of the primary variables determining who you choose is the one that has the greatest collection of before and after pictures and is willing to show you a diversity of outcomes.
All plastic surgeons have good and bad outcomes and it’s fair game for patients to ask to see them.
I think you’ll find that the most experienced and talented surgeons are the most willing to be honest and show you A variety of outcomes. They’re also most likely to have the greatest collection of before and after pictures.
Sometimes doctors from different backgrounds do these procedures because there’s money to be made in cosmetic surgery.
I think you are wise to stick to someone who’s formally trained in plastic surgery but make sure they have the skill and experience to do the procedure correctly.
Don’t be afraid to push the surgeon to show you more examples and answer all your questions. Continue having consultations until you feel really certain you found the most talented an appropriate surgeon who’s got the skills and experience to meet your needs.
I don’t know how many consultations you might need but I recommend you start with five and just keep on having more until you know where you found the right provider.
I’ve seen enough bad outcomes to recognize the need to choose carefully and not just go with someone because they were nice and seem to have the right criteria. Some providers will order a mammogram to determine the extent of gynecomastia but I think most providers just do it by examination.
In the United States is generally considered a cosmetic procedure that’s not covered by medical insurance to. I’m not sure how things work where you are bad regardless all of the brave are legit recommendations and having a clear understanding of what the problem is and choosing the right provider is generally key to a happy outcome.

Thank you for your question and photos. It does appear that you have mild to moderate gynecomastia. Asymmetry between the left and right is not unusual. Surgical correction of gynecomastia is an option. It entails liposuction to remove fat, and direct excision of the gland which is located behind the nipple. Consult with a Board certified plastic surgeon in your area to discuss your options. Unfortunately there are no effective non surgical remedies for this. Best wishes,Dr. Morrissey
