10 months post op, when will my implant drop and fluff? (photos)

Thank you for your question.. Drop and fluff refers to post-operative period in which the breasts begin to descend and fills out the lower half of the breast. It may take several months for this to happen and can be encouraged with breast massage and compression. It may appear that the breast enlarges as the lower aspect of the breast fills out (at the expense of the upper portion of the breast).  At 10 months, you have to consider a breast lift or pocket manipulation.  Some women may continue to see changes up to a year, but if you have not noticed much change at this point, you may want to discuss options with your surgeon.

Hi. IMHO these implants  have dropped already. I don't feel that waiting any more will improve the position. You have high riding implants and the capsule is now well formed. Discuss with your surgeon the possibility of a revision. Good luck

Implants may ride up a bit after augmentation and with the aid of massage or straps can descend to their final position from 4-8 weeks after surgery.  Ten months seems a bit long to wait for this to happen.  You may need a revision to reposition them properly.  

Without an exam it is hard to say what exactly is going on. But with that being said, you need speak with your surgeon about how concerned you are.  Stressing out about this is really not good for you. All the best to you

It usually takes about 3-4 months for implants to drop and fluff. However, the breasts will continue to subtly change for months after that, depending on factors such as tissue volume, implant size, etc, but not by much. I encourage you to see your surgeon to discuss this with him/her.

I would not expect your implants to change much at this point. You appear to have 2 options to improve your appearance. You could have your surgeon carefully alter the pocket surgically to lower the position of the implant so that it is lower on your chest wall and more centered behind the nipple. Or you could have a breast lift procedure to tighten the skin envelope. Based on your profile view, it seems as if the implant could be positioned slightly lower without the need for a lift. The dual plane is the correct position for you, but I am not certain that your implant is as low as it could be. Talk with your surgeon about your options. 

At 10 months post operative I would not expect much change. Usually dropping occurs at the 6 week to 3 month mark. You should discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck.

Thank you for your question. From your photographs it appears that your implants are indeed too high. However, without a preoperative Photo it is impossible to tell you more. It is possible the implants are not placed a low enough, or that you needed a lifting procedure at your original surgery. After 10 months, it is likely that most of the changes that will occur with time have completed. 
Discuss this more with your surgeon in person as it is possible you may need a revision surgery of some sort.

After 10 months you would expect to see some progress, but you are right, the lower pole is empty and the point of projection is above the nipple. We can't fully sort out the problem, though the implants might need to be lowered, the implant profile changed, or a breast lifted to get the nipple over the front of the implant. See what your surgeon thinks.
