Thank you for your question. You cannot get liposuction and have the fat harvested stored until you are ready for the next procedure. I would advice to combine the procedures. This will allow the fat harvested to be fat grafted to the breasts and allow for only one recovery period. Be sure to have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options. Hope this helps,Dr. German Newall
Unfortunately fat cannot be harvested and used later. You would need to either combine procedures and use all the fat or divide into 2 separate procedures.
The harvested fat cannot be saved and used at a later date. However, the two procedures can be performed at the same time, if the board certified plastic surgeon is an expert at both procedures.Breast fat transfer is a great tool to balance breasts, improve symmetry, and gain up to one cup size in volume. The fat transfer volumes to each breast may range from 150 cc to 300 cc in most cases. About 50% of the fat survives, on average. Most patients will require more than one session of fat grafting to achieve the best results.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Thank you for your question. The answer is no, you can't save the fat to use it later for another procedure. The fat will have to be used during the same surgery. That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. A key quality indicator is Board Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Don’t settle for less than a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.
Hello Elizabeth209, I appreciate your questions! Unfortunately, it wouldn’t be feasible to save the rendered fat to be used in latter procedures after Liposuction. Moreover, breast augmentation with fat transfer is still in the experimental stage, and it’s currently not recommended by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Therefore, I would recommend you having a breast augmentation with implants procedure instead, 3-6 months after you’ve fully recovered from Liposuction, to enhance your breasts’ shape, size and appearance. An experienced plastic surgeon would need to evaluate you in person to assess your candidacy for liposuction and breast implants surgery at the moment. Best regards! Dr. De La Cruz.
Can do both procedures together. If you separate the procedures the fat needs to be stored at special tissue banks at considerable expense. My Best, Dr Commons.
Good question. At the present time, fat harvested with liposuction can be used at the same time (on the same day). Trying to store fat greatly diminishes the success of transplantation. I do not recommend fat grafting for breast enlargement. It is unpredictable and would take several treatment to get a significant increase.
Dear Julie, many thanks for your question It is not uncommon for the swelling of the soft tissues to manifest themselves with creases and lines after surgery as a result of th combination of swelling and the compression garments and/or abdominal binder (band). One thing that I advise my patients...
Thank you for your question. The fluid that remains will be adsorbed by your body. Opening your incisions can increase risk of infection and lead to poor wound healing. Swelling after liposuction is to be expected and this resolves slowly over the 3-6 months following surgery. I would ...
Thank you for asking about your liposuction recovery. Please call your surgeon without delay for care. Although nausea can occur, it is uncommon with the proper medicines today. No one can - or should try - to treat this except your own surgeon. Hope this helps. Best wishes. Elizabeth Morgan MD ...
