Use of ice after Kybella injection is for minimizing the bruising and helps the burning discomfort associated after the injection process. I usually tell my patients to pre ice the area to decrease the discomfort from the injection and once the treatment is done, I give them ice pack for additional 15-20 minutes to apply to the treated area. Ice is mostly used here for bruising and discomfort. It will not help minimize the post procedure swelling as it's caused by the destruction of fat cells under the chin area. I encourage my patients to ice if this helps them, but majority of my patients feel numbness sensation and don't find the need to use ice. I provide a neck wrap to wear at night, as it elevates the swelling tissue and helps to decrease the recovery time. Hope this helps and good luck. Please don't forget to share your story and results with the community to show how great Kybella is. Best, Dr.Avaliani
Hi! you can ice for about 2-3 days after the procedure for about 15-20 min intervals as tolerated. It can take up to a full 4 weeks to see the complete results. You may experience some swelling, bruising , minor pain and or stinging , this is normal and the injections taking effect. If you feel unsure or have any further questions or concerns I would follow up directly with your injector. With your best look in mindDr. Elyse S. Rafal
Immediately following the procedure, ice should be applied to the area & may be applied as needed to reduce swelling for the first 24-36 hours. You will note some redness, stinging & burning 15 minutes to 2 hours after the treatment, and later, swelling and bruising which peaks between 6-72 hours. Should any redness or a small lump be experienced, use warm compresses several times a day. You may experience post- inflammatory nodules. These indicate ongoing fat necrosis (a good thing..) these disappear within 30 days. Contact the provider who treated you if you have any concerns. Hope this helps! My best, Anil Rajani, MD
As long as you have need for it and you feel it helps. Icing the area helps sooth bruising and discomfort. It cannot affect results. Therefore, if it helps you, keep icing the area until your discomfort is gone. Good luck!
Thank you foryour question ellenbto. Kybellais the first and thus-far only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatmentfor the double chin. For the first 15 minutes or so after a Kybella treatment patients feel a burning sensation. We apply ice packs for this time to maximize our patients' comfort. After that cold compresses may be used to reduce the swelling. Pleaseconsult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!
The ice is to reduce your bruising and discomfort. It won't help or harm your results. So, really, it's up to you. Ice as needed.
Hi ellenbto,Thanks for your question. We begin icing immediately after the last injection and continue for approximately 15 minutes this helps reduce the burning discomfort from the injections. Recommended icing after that would be for the first 48 hours in intervals of no more than 20 minutes. Swelling is expected and actually needed in that this is the response to the chemical injected reflecting the response of the body. All is short lived and will resolve with or without ice.
Ice is simply to help with the discomfort and swelling after treatment. Ice as long as you want. It will not effect the results adversely or positively either way. Good luck with your results.
Applying an ice pack after Kybella is for your comfort-- most people need it only for 10-20 minutes or so, but sometimes longer. This will not help nor harm your results. I like to use a Zimmer chiller during injection for comfort. Even if you ice the area a lot, there will still be swelling as part of the process of lysing the fat cells.
Kybella reduces the fat under the chin and it is not FDA approved for skin tightening. It takes longer than 6 weeks to see end results with some people. You may look into other skin tightening treatments to achieve best results. Good luck!
You can begin taking it after your Kybella injections. Reducing or discontinuing anti-inflammatories or aspirin prior to a procedure is to limit bleeding in the area of the procedure.
There is no research how Kybella affects pregnancy or if it affects pregnancy at all. We all avoid performing injections during pregnancy because of liability if something goes wrong and there is nothing to prove if it is correlated or not. There should be no harm to your baby or pregnancy ...
