How long after Kybella treatment will I notice results?

The 2 clinical trials with Kybella performed by Allergan involved 2-6 treatments with 2-4 vials per treatment. So it sounds like you received an inadequate dose of Kybella. It is normal to have moderate swelling following each treatment and it does takes several months to appreciate the results from this treatment. I would recommend either giving it more time, or returning to your Doctor for more treatment.Good luck

You've asked a great question. Typically it takes several rounds over a few months to start to see the results you are looking for with Kybella. One treatment also usually consists of two viles, not one - I would follow-up with your physician on that. If you continue to see minimal change, it could also mean you are not a candidate for Kybella. There are a few reasons you may not be seeing results, with out pictures or an in person consult it is hard to tell. But most patients are treated with 2 vials per treatment ,you may have been under treated , or just simply not a kybella candidate. Follow up with your injector to further discuss.

Kybella results can take up to 6-8 weeks and do require a series of treatments. For best results with Kybella, I recommend a combination approach with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is an alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an expert.  1 vial (2 cc) is VERY minimal even for a small amount of fat.  I suggest a second opinion.  Best, Dr. Emer

Kybella reduces the fat under the chin and it is not FDA approved for skin tightening. It takes longer than 6 weeks to see end results with some people. You may look into other skin tightening treatments to achieve best results. Good luck!  

 

I am not at all surprised that you don't see much result, but I am sorry that you were not told that this would most likely be the case.  Also, the minimum amount of Kybella that I usually inject, even for a very mild amount of submental fat is 2 vials, so that may be an issue as well.  However, getting back to how fast results occur, we typically tell patients that after one treatment there will be "no change", after two treatments there will be a "subtle change," and after three treatments, it will be "very noticeable."
Perhaps if you do 2 vials for a third treatment you will be closer to your goal.  Hope this helps.

is the first and thus-far only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatment
for the double chin. For my patients I recommend at least 2 Kybella treatments with at least 2 vials per treatment. I recommend spacing the treatments at 3 month intervals. We assess the results via photography 3 months after the second treatment to determine if further enhancement is desired. Please

Typically, Kybella results take 2-6 sessions with 2-4 vials per session so it sounds as if you did not have a high enough dose. Having said that, ask to see your pre-op photos. There is has probably been more of a change than you realized. 

I'm sorry to hear that you are not noticing any improvement after your Kybella treatments.  It's difficult to comment on your treatment specifically without evaluating you in-person.  However, Kybella typically requires a series of treatments for best results - in the original clinical trials, patients received up to 6 treatment sessions, and most required 2-4 sessions for visible results.  Also, in my personal experience, one vial is a relatively low dose for most patients.  
I would wait a little longer for the Kybella to start kicking in - I typically recommend waiting 10-12 weeks between treatment sessions.  I have had a number of patients who did not have visible results at 4-6 weeks, who then went on to see improvement at 12 weeks or so, without any additional treatment.  I would also suggest discussing your treatment with a cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon for best results.  Best of luck!
