The belly button remains in the same position during a standard tummy tuck, but the skin around it is moved which is why there is a scar around it. There are several attractive belly button shapes. They also tend to widen over time after surgery. Sometimes a button tightens and needs revision to improve the shape.

It is easier to open a button up a bit with a really minor procedure than to shrink it.
