Few years after Tummy Tuck - what are your thoughts and opinions on my results? (photos)

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. Although nothing was done incorrectly your results are suboptimal as your incision is quite high on your abdomen and the scarring was significant. You can certainly refine your results but an in-person discussion of your goals and limitations that now exist needs to be had.

Based on your photo, you appear to have a high tummy tuck scar and also prominent scarring around your belly button. One way to improve scar appearance is to perform scar revision surgery and to excise the old scars. Liposuction of flanks can also be added to further improve your abdominal contour and waistline definition.
I would recommend an in person evaluation by a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon to further discuss your questions and concerns.

The best way to evaluate a surgical outcome is compare photos from multiple angles to photos you have from before surgery. It does appear that you have some fullness of your flanks that could be addressed with liposuction. You also have some thickened scars that may benefit from scar revision. I would recommend a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss your areas of concern.

It's difficult to judge your results without any pre op photos. It doesn't necessarily appear that anything was done "wrong" from your photo. It does appear your results could be improved though with scar revision and liposuction for further contouring.

It would help to have preop pics to compare your results too. That being said, he would certainly have improved shape with liposuction of your flanks and back as well as possibly the lower abdomen. The curvature of the front of your belly would require a physical exam to see why you’re not as flat as you might be. It does not appear that anything was done improperly, just though it might be improved certainly with some elective liposuction in.

Based on your photos, your results look sub optimal and to get it fixed you need to revise it.
The incision is too high and not easily concealable, the love handles are still full and belly bottum looks large and deformed.

It’s always easy to second guess or play Monday morning quarterback.


All plastic surgeons have outcomes that didn’t turn out as well as they had hoped.

Patients who are prone to form hypertrophic scars I’m going to have an overall worse outcome than those who have scars that fade away and become almost invisible.

Your scar could’ve been placed lower and had an alternate contour which may have looked better but he would’ve still had a highly visible scar even if it was designed differently.

The primary reason your tummy tuck outcome doesn’t look great is it related to how are you individually heal after surgery.

Considered trying silicone tape for a few months and see if that helps lessen the hypertrophy of your scars.

Typically to make a proper assessment regarding the outcome of a procedure we need to see before and after pictures.

Reviewing before pictures can also reassure patients that despite not being perfect the outcome is still a great improvement.

In the end surgeons are responsible for the outcome of their procedures and patients are likewise responsible for choosing that provider.
