Thank you for your question! When we talk about fat transfer to the face, this is usually one of the many areas we augment with your own fat! We try to provide a delicate balance of fat transfer to multiple areas to "re-volumize" the loss as we age. It has been studied extensively where volume has changed with aging. The goal is to bring harmony to replace the deep fat pockets that have "deflated" over time and often it's combined with a facelift to re-suspend the descending tissues. If a facelift is not needed, we instead can use fat taken from either the stomach, flank, or outer thigh regions to provide the necessary volume to create a more youthful facial appearance. I recommend you seek a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon experienced with fat transfer to assist you in your goals. Three dimensional imaging may also allow you to experience first hand, some of the changes you may be undergoing. I hope this helps!!
Fat grafting in the paranasal area is commonly done, especially in conjunction with midface rejuvenation. Implants are the other more permanent and structurally stronger choice. A board-certified plastic surgeon with experience with both should be able to help you decide.Dr. Z
