Is fat embolism a risk with fat transfer to chin?

Hello! I’m considered fat transfer to chin. I do not want a chin implant and only need a small increase in projection. One question though… Is fat embolism a risk with fat transfer to the chin like it is for BBLs? If there is some risk, is the risk always there or, once it settles and what’s going to be absorbed is absorbed, is it no longer an issue? Thanks!

An embolic event would be extremely rare with facial fat transfer.  To avoid this risk I uses microcannulas to inject the fat.  These have a blunt tip that would not pierce a blood vessel making fat embolism even more unlikely.

Fat embolism from a transfer to the face would be exceptionally rare, if not virtually impossible.  But a chin implant is far more predictable and almost always a better option than for fat to the chin for augmentation.

Fat embolism is usually not of concern with facial fat transfer due to small caliber of vessels involved and  gentle technique used for facial fat transfer.
