Will a facial fat transfer have truly permanent results?

Question

I have looked at so many providers pages and some say “a few years” or “several years” and some say “permanent”. What are the factors I should be looking out for in terms of technique that would make this truly permanent (extraction, purification, and grafting technique). My budget isn’t huge and I don’t have much body fat so this is really a one shot hope for me. Also, is there usually bleeding with this procedure? Thank you!

There is no question that fat grafts have much longer durability than any other filler. However, only about 30% of fat grafts survives in face (significantly less in areas around mouth and lips). It takes about 8-12 months for grafts to settle and volume to mature. Once “taken”, fat grafts behave like the rest of fat in your body; if your weight increases volume of fat grafts would increase proportionally and vice versa. Hope that this info may help your understanding of fat grafting; there are many questions that we still do not know the answer.

You can expect a 20%-30% retention of fat at 1 year.  At that point a 2nd session may be needed and then you can expect a higher retention.  The best thing about facial fat transfer is that of all the fillers it is the most natural.

Fat transfer is a technique that results are permanent and temporary. What i mean by that is usually %40-60 of fat that is being transferred will be permanent and rest of it will be resorbed within 3-6 months. There are some adjustable and non-adjustable factors that effect how much fat will remain and how much will be resorbed. Blood circulation increasing factors such as quiting smoking will effect positively. About the technique; less traumatic harvested, purified and multilevel implanted grafts are more likely to survive and increase the permanent fat rate
