Can I sleep on my back after a BBL if I sleep with a cutout for my butt to go in?

Thank you for your question. When it comes to sleeping after BBL I do not recommend special pillows. The best thing to do is sleep on your stomach. It's important to maintain a strategic distance from specifically sitting on your butt for no less than two weeks after surgery to guarantee the best result. Limit your movement for  a month too. and utilize special pillow to sit on.

I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon. I instruct my patients not to sit for 2 solid weeks. We provide them a specialized pillow that our patients can sit on during that time. I have no experience with the booty pillow but if your not applying direct pressure to the area (which is the whole point in not lying on your back) then that may be okay to try. I would definitely ask your surgeon first.

Please follow up with your surgeon.It's important to avoid directly sitting on your butt for at least two weeks after surgery to ensure the best outcome. The longer you can avoid sitting, the better your ultimate outcome.You should also wear your garments for about four weeks. Minimize your activity (exercise) for about four weeks also. Most patients will take off about 1 or 2 weeks from work and will use special pillows to sit on when returning to work.

The goal is not to put any pressure on your buttock for the first several weeks. Best to review things with your surgeon.

This something you want to discuss with your PS. Leaving your butt to dangle dependent to gravity can cause swelling and pressure so they may limit the amount of time you can be in this position. 

Best to sleep on your tummy for the first 2 weeks. If you have a specific setup to prevent pressure on your buttocks, that may be okay. You will need to discuss specifics with your plastic surgeon. I often have patients show me a specific pillow or garment for my approval. 

As long as there is no pressure applied to the buttocks and all other areas where fat was transferred to such as the hips. In general, patients sleep on their stomach after BBL. Consult your surgeon for post op instructions.

I am not a fan of any specialized pillow; remember that the fat cells cannot migrate or move with pressure; you are only going to squeeze the swelling out. However, you should try to shift your body weight from side to side every hour especially when you are numb; once numbness is gone, your body will do this automatically. The most important consideration for BBL results is having VASER liposuction performed to maximize your contouring and BBL results.
