Does the muscle recover faster after second breast augmentation in comparison to the first procedure?

Thank you for your question regarding healing time following revisonal breast surgery.  If your new implants were placed under the muscle again, fairly rapid healing is the usual.  However, your doctor placed sutures along the outside of your breast pockets, likely to prevent the smaller implants from moving to the side of your chest area.  This procedure is known as a lateral capsulorrhapy.   I do this procedure quite often and ask my patients to refrain from chest exercise for a prolonged period of time.  We want the pocket to heal and have your implants in the best position!    The procedure can be uncomfortable for a number of weeks.  I would make sure to ask your doctor the time course before you can workout.Best wishes!

Thanks for hour question.  If pocket work was done to make the pocket smaller sometime this can be even more uncomfortable than your orginal surgery.   Be patient as your pocket has to heal and this can take up to 3-6 months. Best of luck. 

Generally speaking, the amount of discomfort a patient experiences will depend mainly on exactly what procedure is performed. For example, if the revisionary breast surgery involves a removal/replacement of breast implants, in the same breast implant “pocket”, most patients report much less discomfort associated with the revisionary breast surgery, compared to the initial breast augmentation procedure.  Keep in mind that pain may be a sign of a complication that may need to be addressed or that you may be returning to activity too soon.  Your plastic surgeon will be your best resource when it comes to accurate assessment, advice, and/or reassurance.Best wishes an outcome that you will be pleased with longer-term.
