Why is exercise a risk after a FUE procedure?

It is best to ask your surgeon about post operative care as each doctor has their unique regimen.  Most doctors would recommend taking it easy after a surgery.  Most of this is following common sense.  Many patients resume light exercise within days after surgery.  Sweating and nominal elevated blood pressure do not cause graft loss. 

With our SmartGraft technology, we typically want the patient to avoid elevating the blood pressure with workouts until day 10. By day 10 there is typically no arm that can come to the new hair other than a bad sunburn for the first 90 days.

Whether it is strip or FUE we recommend waiting one week before resuming full exercise.Elevation in the blood pressure and significant sweating can result in dislodgement of grafts.

Light cardio work can occur just after a couple of days after FUE, but we tell patients not to lift heavy weights until after post-op day 10.  This is because strenuous lifting before this time can actually cause grafts to pop out.

The first week of post op it is critical not to increase blood pressure or sweat because the grafts could dis-lodge. Also, during excessive exercise adrenaline is released and can potentially hamper the establishment of circulation to each follicle during the first week post op. 
FOLLOW the post op instructions. One week of no exercise will not throw you off your routine too long. 

You should know, post operative care is one of the important part of FUE. We normally advice to the patients not to work out at least for 1st week, only 10 days later patients can get back to cardio and any other workouts.  Working out at the earlier stages after FUE may cause a risk of popping out the transplanted grafts.  

It is important to follow your doctors post-operative instructions. Exercise is a concern because it can raise your blood pressure and also cause sweating. These can cause your grafts to become dislodged and jeopardize your results. 

I tell my patients that within 4 days after an FUE they can run a marathon, do all types of exercise and other activities except scuba diving

we ususslly tell our patient to tske it easy for the first week. You can return to your normal routine after two weeks.
