4000 grafts FUE, 17 days post-op and NO shedding - Is it normal? (photos)

It is normal to lose transplanted hairs days to weeks after surgery.  It may take 6 to 12 months to see new hairs grow out. Some patients do not shed and this is also normal.

Shedding of the transplanted hair normally occurs between the second and third week post-op. Holding on to the transplanted hair without shedding sometimes happens, but it is more likely you will begin to shed soon.

Very few patients do not shed the hair like most people do. A very few of my patients followed this pattern of no shedding. They are the very lucky ones. Most people shed the hair between 3 & 6 weeks.

Hello. Thank you for posting photos. Based on your photos, you have clean scalp, almost no scabs, which is very good sign. You might face shedding in upcoming days, or may not. You should know sometimes some of the patients do not have shedding after FUE, and it is absolutely normal. All looks good as should be. 

Thank you for the post and question. Being 17 days post procedure, the recipient region looks very clean and minimal scabbing. If you experience shedding in the coming days, this is well within the normal stage, and you shouldn't worry. 

Shedding can happen at variable time windows. It is normal for hair not to shed for months post transplant.

You may still shed some hairs in the coming weeks, however it is common that some hairs will stay. You will see new growth at around 3 months and the transplanted hairs will continue to grow over the next year. 

Usually the shedding happens around three weeks. However over the last 26 years of my experience, i have had very few patients whose hair continued to grow. So it could happen but it is very rare. 

You had 4000 graftw and now are 17 days post op. Everything is looking good and almost clean of crusts
