In doing my research for 5+ years, I have yet to come across a doctor who doesn't have at least a couple bad reviews. It seems like even the best doctors have dismissive/ rude/ uncaring attitudes when one of their patients has unsatisfactory results. Can anyone give me advice?
Answer: Rhinoplasty Reviews Hi, There isn't a single surgeon who hasn't under performed at some point in their careers and sometimes that can result in a negative review. It is also important to remember that sometimes patients can leave negative reviews without justification. At some point, it is important for you to pick a couple of your top contenders and meet with them for a consultation and use your own judgement to determine who might be the best fit for you. Best, MS

Answer: Surgeon choice Hello! Thank you for your question. It is totally normal to find some bad reviews about a doctor. As a surgeon you always do your best for your patient. But sometimes patient may not be happy with the result (it may be related to complications or/and patient's expectation). Sometimes patients have hard time to accept their new look after the surgery because the nose is in the middle of the face, it changes the whole look of the face.

Answer: Choosing a rhinoplasty surgeon... I would advise to see surgeons with a few bad reviews. That means that they are probably doing a lot of rhinoplasty surgeries, which is what you want in a surgeon. The only surgeons that have zero bad reviews are either not doing much surgery or manipulating the reviews somehow. Having said that, the surgeon should also have a lot of good reviews too. The most important things are looking at photos and seeing if their results are something you would like, and then visiting the surgeons to see if you feel good about one of them. Make sure they are performing rhinoplasty every week.

Answer: Choosing a Rhinoplasty‘ surgeon: Choosing a Rhinoplasty‘ surgeon: there are many reasons why a surgeon may get a bad review. In some cases he may have done a poor job. In some cases the patient may have been a difficult case with a higher risk of sub optimal results. In some cases patient expectations may exceed any surgeons ability to deliver. if a surgeon is not very good at rhinoplasty, which is an extremely difficult operation, he will probably have multiple bad reviews. If he is new at it and not very experienced he will probably have very few reviews. If he is experienced and has multiple good reviews and one or two bad reviews, you can presume with a high degree of confidence that he is a good surgeon and those couple of bad reviews had to do with an extremely difficult case which was bound to have a sub optimal result, or a patient with unrealistic expectations. Most satisfied patients do not write reviews, But a dissatisfied patient is much more likely to write a review. With good surgeons most of the suboptimal results have to do with difficult cases that already had the problem they are complaining about postoperatively, and the surgeon was not able to fully fix it. Examples of this would include someone with a very crooked nose who postoperatively still has some residual crookedness though better than before, a person with a very fat thick skinned bulbous tip whose tip postop is still not what the patient wanted but better than it was before, a patient with severe nasal obstruction whose breathing is not much improved, a patient with a very short nose who still has a very short nose . In rhinoplasty what counts is how good a candidate for surgery the patient is. Some are good candidates with high percentage satisfaction rates and others are very poor candidates with much lower satisfaction rates. In your research you should seek surgeons who limit their practice exclusively to nasal surgery. It has become a specialty unto itself and people who spend most of their time doing other things, and do occasional rhinoplasties will have a very high revision rate. You should see how many cases the surgeon has done. It takes over 1000 cases to start to begin being good at it. And when it comes to reviews you will probably never find a surgeon who only has good reviews unless he’s just beginning his practice and only has a few to begin with, or he contracts with patients preoperatively that they will not write bad reviews if they are unhappy with their results, which I believe no surgeon should do, but some do.

Answer: Go on a few consultations, and go with your gut. You’re correct - All busy rhinoplasty specialists have a few bad reviews. It’s impossible to make everyone happy, and some of our worst reviews are from people who had good results! Check your surgeons’ B&A galleries and number of years in practice. Go on several consultations and see if there is chemistry. When I’m positive I can help someone, we usually exceed expectations. Good luck’ Dr Joseph
