9 months post op and swelling / numbness is still present - would a kenacort steroid injection help? (photos)

Question

Hello There, I’m now 9 months since my rhinoplasty was done in Turkey my swelling and numbness hasn’t gone down I had a zoom call with my doctor and he said I need kenacort steroid injection to help with the swelling. Will this help? As I also can’t breathe properly still after the surgery and no plastic surgeon in Queensland will give me this steroid injection I’ve called everyone. Please help

Hello! Thank you for your question.As I can see from your photos you still have swelling, but I have also noticed that you have thick skin especially on the tip of the nose. Even if the swelling goes down totally, your tip will still be round. Best regards!

The only place that we may inject steroids is the supratip. when it appears swollen. You are supratip appears normal on profile. Consider visiting a local surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty surgery for an opinion about your nose. It may also be helpful if you could procure your operative report. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

Steroid injections can be warranted to help with scar tissue formation in the nasal tip after rhinoplasty. However, that doesn't fully explain your lack of ability to breathe properly 9 months after surgery.

I'd recommend that you set up a consultation with a rhinoplasty surgeon in your area and let them guide you with their expertise as to the right course of action. I would not recommend calling around to offices asking for someone to give you a steroid injection to your nose. Let the surgeon make the decision to do this, if it's warranted and in their best medical opinion to do so. Your situation may not be that simple, and the Turkish surgeon can only make a guess as to this intervention through a telehealth visit.

The picture you posted looks serious. If you suddenly feel swollen or hot, you should go to the hospital and take antibiotics because there may be inflammation. It is recommended that you consult with an ENT doctor if the swelling does not go down immediately after surgery and it is difficult to breathe. Hope you have good results.
