I recommend wearing compression garments for the first week after the Cellfina procedure. The puncture sites leak lymphatic fluid and blood for one or two days after the procedure. Wearing a garment helps to hold dressings in place. The garment also helps to prevent swelling and edema in the legs after the procedure. This helps to reduce pain and quickens the recovery in most patients. Many women comment that they wear the garments for a week also for comfort.
Hello and thank you for your question! The compression garments are very important and will decrease your risks of complications post cellfina. The garment with decrease the amount of edema, will also act for some minimal pressure at insertion site (minimizing post treatment bleeding) and also improve your circulation. I hope this information helps you and best of luck to you!
This helps healing dramatically and makes the skin tighten more quickly. I suggest you follow the best post-operative protocol. Best, Dr. Emer.
Compression garments are very important when doing cellfina. They help with bruising and swelling, also helps improve circulation and reduce the risk of complications!
Thank you for your question. Compression garments are needed after Cellfina because they help reduce bruising and swelling. In my experience I have found that applying a compression garment helps to reduce bruising post-procedure which helps patients feel more confident faster. Due to the nature of the treatment, compression post-procedure also helps the patient feel less discomfort. Scheduling a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist with extensive training and expertise is a great place to start.
We recommend our patients wear a mild compression garment, such as yoga pants or Spanx, following Cellfina. During the treatment, numbing solution is injected in to the tissue. The compression encourages the numbing solution to push out, minimizes swelling, and encourages healing. Most patients find the compression minimizes discomfort, as well. I would follow the recommendations of your provider.
During the start of the Cellfina procedure, numbing medicine is put in just under the skin and this itself can cause some swelling. After the Cellfina treatment where the bands causing the dimpled cellulite are released, these areas will further swell some. Thus, wearing a compression garment (i.e. Spanx or tight bicycle shorts) will help push that swelling out to areas where treatment was not performed, so that this fluid can be better and more quickly absorbed by your body. In addition, a compression garment also helps keep the treated areas stay smoother in the early part of your post-treatment healing. We typically recommend compression garments with an opening to go to the bathroom (ie, “gusset opening”) so that you can go to the bathroom without having to take the garment on and off each time.
Thank you for your question. Compression following Cellfina serves three purposes. First, after disrupting the skin from the tissue below, it helps the skin to re-adhere to the soft tissue below. Second, it will diminish the amount of swelling. Finally, pressure provides comfort. I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
Cellfina is actually a surgical procedure and the underlying fat and tissue bands are cut with a micro-blade. This causes trauma to the tissue and some bleeding under the surface. Just the same as we use a compression for liposuction, we use one after Cellfina to minimize these effects, reduce discomfort, and speed up the rate of recovery.
