When I finally started the process to have breast reduction surgery, I was so nervous on the phone that I forgot my own address. Yet Dr. Emily Hu, Andrea Ball and the entire staff were nothing but warm, understanding and kind. The procedure and recovery expectations were clearly and concisely explained. With their support, I was able to lose the weight I needed to safely have the surgery. They truly went above and beyond. I am currently a month post surgery and it has already been life changing. Recovery has been very smooth and I no longer have consistent neck, back and hip pain. I feel lighter not only physically but mentally and more human than I have in years. Thank you so very much, Dr. Hu, Andrea and everyone on staff. Honestly, it feels like ‘thank you’ isn’t enough for all of the kindness, care, and support I have received. Your skill and talent as a surgeon made this possible but your genuine warmth and understanding makes your practice truly exceptional.
I absolutely love Dr. Hu and her team. The knowledge, kindness, the professionalism is outstanding. The team is so welcoming. I have worked closely with Dr. Hu and her PA Andrea with my double mastectomy and reconstruction. They both held my hand through the process and was always there for me when I has any questions or concerns. I highly, highly recommend this team.
Fantastic 360!! I have been going to Dr. Hu’s office for a variety of different services for several years. Everytime I leave her office, I can honestly say that it was a Great experience! They have a fantastic staff, Dr. Hu is Awesome and their PA, Andrea, is Top Notch! I Highly recommend Dr. Emily Hu, her PA, Andrea and her wonderful Esthetician’s, Lauren and Chloe. If you’re looking for the Best, Stop and look no further. You just found them! ~ Deanna
I scheduled a consultation for July Monday the 12 on the 7th for BBL. Spent maybe 5 minutes in the waiting room and then I had my consultation and was offered to do spot treatment right away. I’m getting ahead of myself here… the staff answered all my questions, didn’t seem bothered about what I asked and had very clear knowledge of the equipment and the steps to ensure comfort. They weren’t pushy about selling treatment or pushy to get a bigger care package. I asked to start with a few spot treatments and was given a quote. Was also given a quote for a full facial treatment that had skin tyte as well. I did not feel uncomfortable at all with the provider. I was asked if I wanted to do a treatment today and I was surprised and took the opportunity to do it. The process was smooth from start to finish and not painful at all. The provider explained the light intensity, put some goggles on me and did a sample of light for me to understand what will happen. I Will definitely come back to get the rest of the treatment later. Thank you to the team for addressing my needs and the treatment. If you’re in the Portland, OR area and need Broadband treatment, I recommend this Dr. Hu to anyone. (They also provider other treatments!)
Dr. Hu understood my concerns and addressed them logically and with much empathy in the office and in the hospital the day of surgery. She kept my priorities in mind during the procedure surgery and found a way to avoid grafting nipples because I was very interested in preserving as much sensation as possible. It was easy to tell her and her staff exactly what I was thinking because they did judge me. All of my questions were answered on each visit. I was very impressed when I got a call the morning after surgery. They had been discussing my case and wanted to see me that day, and offered me a choice of times. The women in the office are professional, wonderful and caring! Andrea went to great lengths to meet all of my insurance company's requirements. Heather was always positive and helpful with the first part of my visits. Lauren is super-sweet and give a lovely facial. Dr. Hu and Heather were very clear about what recovery would require so I knew what to expect. I was glad I did it - even in the days following surgery. My regret was not doing it sooner. Thank you Dr. Hu, Heather, Lauren and Andrea! If you are considering any type of breast surgery, I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Hu!!
Dr. Hu and her staff are very knowledgeable, warm and welcoming. I had 2 moles removed from my face so I was very nervous. Dr. Hu put me right at ease with her bright personality and passion for what she does. I am one month out from my removal and my face looks really good. You will be in great hands with Dr. Hu!
Dr. Hu's contagious enthusiasm and positive energy combined with her professionalism and eye for perfection instill confidence at the onset. She has a thorough understanding of which procedure best suits her patients' needs and expresses great interest in listening to understand. This was my second breast reduction in 30 years and two months out, I have returned to all regular activities including snowboarding! I would recommend Dr. Hu and her outstanding staff without hesitation. No point in shopping around, just get on with your new self!
She did cosmetic surgery on my nose after my dermatologist performed a Moh's procedure to remove skin cancer. The result was that part of my cheek fills in the hole in my nose. After the stitches came out - amazingly you can't even tell! Both my cheek and nose look "normal'. I have friends that don't believe me and want me to show them exactly where the former cheek skin has been attached. She is my surgeon of choice if I go down this road again with skin cancer on my face.
I just can't say enough how happy I am with my results from Dr Hu's work. My life has changed so drastically! Before my procedure I would hide my body from even my husband (because of my own insecurities of my body.. He loved me no matter what!) and now I am confident in front of him! It is amazing how part of your physical appearance can effect you mentally and emotionally in such a powerfully negative way.. No more of that for me now thanks to Dr Hu! I felt like she went the extra mile to make sure every detail was perfect. I am looking forward to my next procedures with her! If you are questioning plastic surgery I highly recommend going in to see Dr Hu for a consultation. She put me right at ease and treated me so respectfully. I have had horrible experiences with another very unprofessional plastic surgeon in the past so I know how intimidating it can be to go in, and bare all for judgment! I can't thank Dr Hu and her team enough!
Dr. Hu and her staff are very personable and professional. Dr. Hu is detail-oriented while having a great bedside manner. From my first appointment, it was evident that Dr. Hu takes great pride in the quality of her work and wanted to insure that I had a positive experience. I went in for an ear lobe repair, and was a bit anxious since I have not had much experience with any type of surgery. I was very confident under Dr. Hu's care and would definitely return to her if I needed any other plastic surgery.
Great question and thanks for sharing. Agree, constricted lower pole, but overall the nipple position looks good. It is also helpful that you've been thru three pregnancies, so the breast tissue has hopefully been stretched out a bit with the pregnancies. Fat transfer alone may help achieve some more fullness in the lower pole and can also help fill in areas were there is less fullness. However, depending on how much fat you have to donate and how well it survives, you may or may not have enough to achieve similar amount of fullness as seen in the last photo. Implants typically can add both more roundness and fullness, plus will help stretch out the lower pole as well. Since you are getting a tummy tuck, that is a good time to have the fat that is typically removed during the tummy tuck, transferred to the breast area. See how well you like the shape and fullness achieved - at that point, you can then decide if you want more roundness and fullness that an implant can provide. By considering this in a staged manner, you haven't "burned any bridges." As mentioned in the other answers, always best to be evaluated in person by a American Board of Plastic Surgery Board-Certified Surgeon. Best wishes!
My first recomendation is to check with your initial breast lift surgeon as each surgeon has slight variations in their postoperative instructions that would address your questions. In our practice, we recommend that patients keep their incisions dry for at least 48h, and to avoid soaking of the area (ie swimming) for 1 month postoperative. Is someone cannot wait until 1 month postoperative for a spray tan, than we recommend that they at least cover the incisions with Steri-strips (i.e. butterfly strips). After 1 month, they should be able to spray tan the scars itself (as long as all areas are healed). We recommend completely against tanning beds given the very real and high increased risk of skin cancer associated with these machines. We recommend SPF coverage 30 and above over all new scars for the first one year postoperative. Good luck!
Great question - As we start to look more closely at our faces, we will note asymmetries - and the interesting fact is that we are all asymmetric in one way or another! From our eyebrows, eyes, cheeks, lips, to our chest/breast, hands, and even feet! Also, when volume is added to an area, any baseline asymmetry present actually becomes more obvious. Also, sometimes these asymmetries are accentuated with movement (i.e. smiling), thus I am glad to hear that you note your lips actually looks MORE symmetrical when smiling. A small amount of filler can be used to alter shape (and not add too much volume) to better match the other side. However, often I have found that I when I make one side more symmetric to the other side, the patients are not used to seeing themselves that way. The nice thing with most fillers is that a)they are reversible and b) they are not permanent so it may just take another try with a thinner filler, such as Juvederm Volbella with a board-certified core specialty doctor (plastic surgery, facial ENT, or dermatology). Good luck!
A “seroma” is a collection of fluid within the tissue. Typically this will show up on an ultrasound (but not a mammogram). Cysts and masses will also show up well on an ultrasound. If your radiologist mentioned a “ripple,” she might have thought she was feeling an edge of the breast implant. In areas where your skin/tissue is thinner, it is sometimes easier to feel the edge of the implant – and this can sometimes feel like a “lump”, “mass”, or “cyst.” It is very encouraging that both your mammogram and ultrasound were negative. However, if you still have concerns or questions, I would recommend that you set up a consultation appointment with your previous plastic surgeon, or at least a American Board of Plastic Surgery board-certified plastic surgeon.
During the start of the Cellfina procedure, numbing medicine is put in just under the skin and this itself can cause some swelling. After the Cellfina treatment where the bands causing the dimpled cellulite are released, these areas will further swell some. Thus, wearing a compression garment (i.e. Spanx or tight bicycle shorts) will help push that swelling out to areas where treatment was not performed, so that this fluid can be better and more quickly absorbed by your body. In addition, a compression garment also helps keep the treated areas stay smoother in the early part of your post-treatment healing. We typically recommend compression garments with an opening to go to the bathroom (ie, “gusset opening”) so that you can go to the bathroom without having to take the garment on and off each time.
