Is truSculpt ID worth it? I'm nervous about CoolSculpting due to nerve damage and shelving.

I want some body contouring but I am worried about long term complications of shelving and nerve damage of CoolSculpting. i have heard about TruSculpt and wonder if its worth the money.

CoolSculpting is extremely safe when performed in experienced hands. I have not been impressed with what I have seen with TruSculpt ID so far. Another option is EMSculpt which we have been seeing great results with. You would need an in-person consultation and examination to determine if any of these treatments are appropriate for you. Thanks rachyrach145 for your question! Although the goal of both treatments is to permanently reduce fat, truSculpt iD employs monopolar radiofrequency (heat) instead of cryolipolysis (cold), which results in a number of significant safety and cosmetic differences: 
There is no known risk of long-term nerve damage with truSculpt iD, in contrast to CoolSculpting, which frequently results in transient numbness, tingling, or even delayed neuropathic pain. With trusculpt, most patients describe the experience as a hot stone massage rather than the acute cold, pulling, and cramping associated with freezing. 
"Shelving" or "step-off" happens with CoolSculpting when the applicator only targets the fat compressed between panels, leaving a prominent ridge or lump. Heat from truSculpt iD extends beyond the boundaries of the handpieces, producing a natural "feathered" transition into untreated areas for a smoother shape. In contrast to CoolSculpting, truSculpt iD uses radiofrequency radiation to promote collagen, which results in skin tightening. If you are worried about loose skin following fat loss, this is very beneficial. In our practice we provide Morpheus Quantum and Morpheus8 Ignite which are both efficient in Body sculpting.

Great question. In addition to a reduced risked of nerve damage, another benefit of TrusculptID over Coolsculpting is that it provides skin tightening effects. Removing the fat is important, but remaining excess skin can be very bothersome to patients. TrusculptID offers more benefit with the same amount of treatment sessions when comparing the two.

Trusculpt ID is a great way to shape your body without the risks of cool sculpting. Trusculpt ID is relatively comfortable. Similarly to COOL Sculpt, more than one session is usually required to get the desired results.

Trusculpt ID showed similar fat destruction to coolsculpting reporting 24% in trials.   So both kill approximately 20% of fat.   The benefits of Trusculpt ID include faster treatment time of 15 minutes, dissipation of heat from the key treatment pad (reducing shelving/step off risks), tightening affect (only with TRUSCULPT ID which also reduces shelving and step off risks), no cold panniculitis,  much lower rate of paresthesia, minimal bruising, no kneading/massage of tissue, and ability to immediately return to activities after treatment.

Thanks for your question about truSculpt iD treatment.  When looking to do CoolSculpting, please be aware of the potential complications associated with 'cooling' fat in the body.  One of the most problematic being 'paradoxical adipose hyperplasia,' which is a complication of the fat tissue treated becoming enlarged over time.  When using radio-frequency heat with truSculpt iD, the adipose tissue is liquefied and then then needs to be cleared out of the body, but will not have the same issues seen with the cold treatment.  You will see much better results with fat reduction, as well skin tightening from truScuplt iD.

When operated by a trained and certified medical professional, TrueSculpt ID is an extremely safe procedure that should not result in complications like shelving or nerve damage.  TruSculpt uses radio frequency that radiates heat evenly over an area that both destroys fat cells and tightens the skin.  The heat radiates beyond the applicators to feather in the results and avoid complications like shelving.  That being said, there is no substitute for an in-person consultation to determine if TruSculpt is the best option to achieve your treatment goals.
