So I had gynecomastia surgery a week and 2 days ago, and I am a vape. I saw my PS yesterday and everything is looking great, with my healing coming along perfectly. However I am a vaper and am wondering if it would be detrimental to my recovery if I were to start vaping again. I am very worried about blood flow to the nipples and understand that nicotine is a vasoconstrictor, but how risky is it to vape after a week and a day? Thanks.

Thanks for your question. Your concerns are unfounded. None of the studies done looking into this issue confirm damage to cells with the use of VASER liposelection. Male gynecomastia is typically improved with this technique alone if the amount of gland is minimal in fact. Hope this helps.
A follow-up question indicated that you had completed your follow-up appointment with your PS and you were healing well, so my assumption is that this issue resolved on its own or through your PS's intervention.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
It is early in your recovery period. I would recommend massaging the area to make sure that the nipple is not held down by scar tissue. Normally fully recovery takes 3-4 months.
