Nipple necrosis after gynecomastia surgery? 1 week post-op.(Photo)

So I had my gynecomastia surgery 5 days ago, and today the Areola of my right nipple has turned a grey-ish color and I am worried that it may be early nipple necrosis. I have provided a photo.

It is early in your recovery period. I would recommend massaging the area to make sure that the nipple is not held down by scar tissue. Normally fully recovery takes 3-4 months.

It looks like you had decent removal of the excess tissue but now have skin laxity as a result.  This is readily improvable and you should be able to keep the required scar around the areola which will make it less noticeable.  Make sure you consult with someone who does enough gynecomastia proc...

It does not look like a classic crater deformity which is more of a bowl type of deformity. It looks to me like you have scar retraction where the scar is stuck up beneath the nipple area and not allowing the skin to come downward. If this is the case it might improve with deep tissue massage....

Thanks for you question. Nipples tend to heal in very well after surgery, even if there has been a bit of scabbing or ulceration. Very occasionally you are left with a paler patch, but you should wait it out as it will very likely fully resolve.
