Shaving or a bikini wax right before surgery can increase the chance of infection. Discuss the situation with your surgeon to see his/her recommendation. You may be able to have one a week or so prior if you are not prone to irritation. Clippers can be used in the operating room on the day of surgery if needed.
Do not shave or wax before a tummy tuck. It is associated with a slightly higher infection rate. Instead the surgery team should use clippers to trim hair when you are asleep immediately before the operation. Good luck
Hello and thank you for your question. Waxing is not recommended, as this can increase the chance of an infected hair follicle. Based on yourphotograph, you are a great candidate for a tummy tuck with liposuction. This can be done through a low and shortincision, all completely below the bikini line. The belly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars onthe exterior. Your muscles can also beplicated resulting in a flat abdomen. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures ofreal patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluatetheir results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you arecomfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualifiedboard-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D.Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
Thanks for your question. Waxing is not a good idea as it can increase the risk of infection. Most of the time there are clippers that can be used in the OR. Best of Luck!
Agreed, I would not shave or wax areas immediately before surgery, which also includes suntanning.. best of luck
I would avoid shaving or waxing to the bikini area prior to surgery. Usually the surgeon will clip some of the hair right before surgery. I would also recommend that you call your surgeons office to see what they recommend
