You can discuss this with your Plastic Surgeon at the time of yourconsultation.
Hello, usually patients with asthma can have tummy tuck or other elective surgery. Depending on the severity of the disease, you might require preoperative assessment by a specialist (such as a respirologist) and additional monitoring postoperatively. For mild cases there might be no special precautions. Your plastic surgeon would need to take into account your general physical health, anatomy and goals to determine if tummy tuck surgery is a good option.
Thank you for your question. As long as your asthma is under control, this condition should not preclude you from having surgery. Just to be on the safe side, you can have your regular doctor check you out and write a letter of clearance to your plastic surgeon saying that from a medical standpoint, you are safe to proceed with surgery.Best of luck!
Hi Sheryl. The answer most likely is yes. You will have to have a discussion with your lung doctor about ways to maximize your lung function and pass that information to your plastic surgeon and anesthesia physician.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO
Thank you for reaching out! Depending upon your surgeon and surgery center, you may require a medical clearance or clearance from your pulmonologist, but should be able to still have a tummy tuck. Be sure to visit a few experienced board certified surgeons for in person consultations and bring it up to them and ask them what their protocol would be so you can prepare. best of luck! Hello dear! Thanks for the question and provided information as well.Certainly you can have the tummy tuck done if your asthma is under control and with a pulmonologist test, evaluation and follow up approving the surgery.I recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your concerns and goals.Good luck :)
Thank you for the question. Well controlled asthma will likely not be a contraindication to tummy tuck surgery and/or other elective plastic surgical procedures. Always best to check with the doctors know you best for “medical clearance” prior to surgery. Generally speaking, the “ideal” patient for tummy tuck surgery is a patient who presents with "excess" skin/adipose tissue of the abdominal wall usually associated with abdominal wall laxity. Ideally the patient has completed pregnancies, is psycho socially/emotionally/financially stable, has an excellent social support system surrounding him/her, is capable of arranging enough recovery time, does not smoke and who has reached a long-term stable weight. As long as your asthma is under control and you have a healthy check-up from your medical doctor prior to surgery, you should be able to undergo a tummy tuck. If you have any specific concerns, you can also discuss this with the anesthesiologist who will be involved in your case as they will be managing your breathing and airway throughout the procedure. Hope this helps!!Johnson C. Lee, MD Plastic Surgery
Thank you for your question. Yes. As long as you are under the supervision of your primary doctor and you've not had any major flare ups, general anesthesia required for tummy tuck surgery should be very safe. Best of luck.
Asthma is not a contra indication to surgery. We control your asthma with inhalers making surgery safe.
There is no direct link between exercise and seroma resolution. Sounds like the aspirations were effective the skin flap scarred into place and the potential space is now closed.
Free tummy tucks do not exist but Care Credit and Altheon may allow you to finance the surgery. It may also be wise to call your nearest plastic surgery residency training program to see if there is a clinic that can provide your surgery at low cost.
A tummy tuck performed by an experienced board certified plastic surgeon who understands your goals will look natural when done correctly. It’s a good idea to check out before and after photos available on surgeon websites to see if their aesthetic matches yours.
