Answer: Postoperative nasal obstruction A nasal Obstruction that happens after rhinoplasty is usually from edema (swelling)And should resolve on its own over a period of 3 weeks. If it has not resolved then there can be a concern about shifting of the nasal septum or other nasal cartilages that have narrowed the nasal valve. While you're waiting for corrective surgery or evaluation you can use a following to improve the breathing.1. Afrin nasal spray not to be used more than 3 days in a row. It can become habit forming and can affect the nasal lining in a negative way.2. Saline nasal spray which is over-the-counter and is excellent for the nose and sinuses.3. Breathe Right strips to help open any deficiency in the nasal valve area.RegardsDr. J

Answer: Nasal obstruction after rhinoplasty Sorry to hear about your troubles. whats important is that you did the right thing scheduling an evaluation with your surgeon. The causes of postoperative nasal obstruction are numerous, and their treatments vary, therefore it is very important to determine the root of the problem first before initiating the treatment. Meanwhile, you can use some Saline nasal spray which may help to some extent. If the symptoms are very bothersome and interfere with sleep, you may use a nasal decongestant spray before you go to bed, but not longer than for 1 week.

Answer: Nasal obstruction after rhinoplasty Nasal obstruction after rhinoplasty can be multifactorial. One reason is that you may have allergy that is causing swelling of the nasal tissues and this is usually not related to any surgery performed on the nose. The other however could be secondary to weakening of the nasal structure from removing too much cartilage or not reinforcing your existing cartilage at the time of surgery. Either way you should see your rhinoplasty specialist to better determine the reason for your symptoms. Best of luck.

Answer: Can't breath after rhinoplasty I would definitely keep your follow-up appointment so that your surgeon can evaluate you. In the meantime, you may consider over the counter treatments for nasal congestion such as decongestants, nasal saline, and OTC nasal steroids. Good luck!
