Is possible & safe to have a mini facelift 1 month after giving birth?

Dear Doctors, Hoping that u’re having a great time. I am considering to have a mini facelift ASAP due to my tight maternity vacation. So is it possible and safe to have such procedure after one month of giving birth! Thanks In advance

It’s best to wait at least 6 months after giving birth to undergo any plastic surgery procedure as giving birth is already a very stressful event and the body needs to recover from that.

Hello @loony135, thank you for your question. It is not recommended to undergo a mini facelift or any elective cosmetic surgery procedure so soon after giving birth. It is important to give your body time to recover fully from childbirth, and your hormone levels and body shape may still be changing during this time. It is recommended that you wait at least 6 months after breastfeeding before considering any elective cosmetic surgery procedure. This will give your body enough time to fully recover and stabilize before undergoing any procedures. it is technically possible to safely undergo this procedure at least one month after giving birth. Safety includes a decreased risk of blood clots and other complications. However, combining two very stressful things, such as a new child and major cosmetic surgery, is typically ill-advised as this can cause undue physical and mental stress leading to less favorable outcomes. Furthermore, at one month postpartum you are likely still losing weight. You will need to complete weight loss prior to proceeding with any contouring procedure for the optimal results.

There is no contraindication of doing limited facial surgery of that kind early after giving birth. This type of surgery is usually done in twilight or even local anesthesia. You should discuss this issue with a board certified plastic surgeon, expert in face lifts. Good luck.

If you are still breastfeeding, having a procedure would not be wise.  If you are concerned about your appearance after pregnancy weight gain, a weight loss program might be your solution.  If you were planning on having a facelift even before pregnancy, it could be done at that time, but weight loss might be a better start.

No, do not try and have a mini-lift this soon after delivery. One, you still very busy with the baby and are bending your neck a great deal. Two, the hormones from pregnancy are still affecting your skin and the levels needs to settle down to normal. Three, if you are breast feeding, you should have no surgery.
